First identify which system is setting the time: YouTube Studio, an API-driven broadcast, your encoder, or a separate playlist scheduler. Check that system’s schedule before changing time zones elsewhere. A wrong broadcast start, a playlist item changing at the wrong hour, and a different date on a video’s watch page are distinct problems with different fixes.
Identify what changes and when
Write down the expected date and local time, the time shown in each relevant interface, and the time zone configured in each tool. Then identify the symptom:
- The whole broadcast starts early or late: inspect the scheduled event and whichever system triggers it.
- A playlist item changes at the wrong hour: inspect the service that controls item transitions, not just the YouTube broadcast.
- The event displays a different time: compare the event’s scheduled date and time in YouTube Studio with the time shown by the encoder or scheduling tool.
- The encoder refuses to create the broadcast: check the host computer’s date, time, time zone, and clock synchronization.
- Only an uploaded video’s “Published on” date looks different: this is a publication-date display issue, not necessarily a live-stream scheduling fault.
A 24/7 playlist can involve more than one scheduler. YouTube documents broadcast and stream settings, but that does not establish that a separate playlist scheduler uses the same time zone or clock.
Check the scheduled event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio.
- Select Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, select the intended scheduled stream and confirm its date and time. YouTube says a scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance explains where stream settings and scheduling are managed.
- If you created the stream by reusing settings, review the copied configuration, especially auto-start and auto-stop. YouTube says reuse carries over metadata, settings, the stream key, and those start/stop choices. An old setting can therefore affect stream behavior even if the date and time are correct.
Compare the timestamp and time zone correctly
If an API or another tool is involved, inspect the scheduled start and end as datetimes, including their time-zone offset. The YouTube Live Streaming API represents these values in ISO 8601 format, such as YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss.sZ. Compare equivalent instants: a UTC timestamp and a local wall-clock time can describe the same moment while showing different numbers on the clock. The API reference also says that when a scheduled end time is omitted, the broadcast is treated as continuing indefinitely. See Google’s LiveBroadcasts reference.

Separate a live-stream clock from a video’s published-on date
YouTube’s guidance about Pacific time applies to scheduled video publishing, not as a universal rule for live-stream schedules. For an uploaded video, YouTube asks creators to set a date, time, and time zone; the watch-page “Published on” date is based on Pacific Standard Time. A video scheduled or made public from a time zone ahead of PST can consequently show a different date on its watch page than in Studio. This does not mean a live playlist should be set to Pacific time. See YouTube’s video publishing schedule guidance.
Check the computer clock if OBS rejects the start time
If OBS displays “Scheduled start time must be in the future and close enough to the current date that a broadcast could be reliably scheduled at that time,” check the computer’s date, time, time zone, and clock synchronization. Sync the clock, then compare the time being sent with the intended future start.

An OBS forum discussion reported a similar error after the November 3, 2024 daylight-saving change; a respondent said correcting an incorrectly set system clock resolved a similar case. This is an anecdotal troubleshooting lead, not proof that every such error is caused by daylight saving time or a bad clock. The original poster said the displayed clock seemed correct. Inspect the playlist or hosted playout scheduler
If the YouTube event time is right but the content changes at the wrong hour, check the service that controls playlist transitions. Confirm its configured time zone, date, recurring schedule, daylight-saving behavior, and whether it schedules items by wall-clock time or simply plays them consecutively. YouTube cannot be assumed to correct a third-party scheduler’s internal clock.

OneStream Live documents a hosted 24/7 YouTube workflow: select videos and a YouTube channel, then schedule immediately or for later and set a duration in days. Its help page, last updated September 3, 2026, says the feature requires Enterprise and each setup can run for at most 30 days. These are vendor-stated terms and may change; check the OneStream Live help page for current availability.
Use a checklist to isolate the timing fault

Verify the fix and prevent repeat confusion
- Correct the schedule in the system that owns it.
- Reopen the scheduled event or playlist and verify the displayed time. For API workflows, verify the scheduled timestamp and its offset.
- Keep one documented reference time zone for the schedule and note daylight-saving transitions.
- Tell viewers when the live schedule changes. YouTube recommends communicating schedules and changes to fans and using scheduling or reuse-settings tools to help automate live streams; see YouTube’s live upload-schedule tips.
If these checks do not resolve the mismatch, the cause cannot be identified without the actual schedule settings, time zone, encoder, and any third-party playout service. Compare the exact date and time shown in each one.
