It depends on what you mean by “YouTube Live playlist.” To move viewers after your broadcast ends, use YouTube Live Redirect. To play clips one after another inside a continuous broadcast, set up an OBS VLC Video Source playlist. If you are simply watching a regular YouTube playlist, turn on the viewer-side Autoplay setting.
Choose the right kind of automatic playback
| Your goal | Where to set it up | What it does | Important condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Continue watching a regular playlist | YouTube player | Plays a related video after the current one ends | Autoplay behavior and controls can vary by device and account; playback may stop in some circumstances. YouTube Help |
| Send viewers somewhere when your live stream ends | YouTube Live Redirect | Moves viewers to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream | The sending creator needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. Permission is required to redirect to another channel’s live stream. YouTube Help |
| Play multiple clips inside one continuous live broadcast | OBS VLC Video Source | Plays a media playlist as part of your broadcast | VLC must be installed. OBS Project |
These controls solve different problems. Autoplay is a viewer’s playback setting, Live Redirect is a creator’s post-stream handoff, and an OBS playlist is part of the creator’s broadcast production.
Send viewers to a Premiere or live stream after your broadcast
Use YouTube Live Redirect if your goal is “send viewers somewhere after my live stream ends.” YouTube describes the handoff this way: “Once your live stream ends, autoplay will move your viewers to the Premiere or live stream of your choice.” YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect
Check eligibility and destination permission
- The creator sending viewers must have more than 1,000 subscribers.
- The sending channel must have no Community Guideline strikes.
- If the destination is another channel’s live stream, that channel must grant permission.
Live Redirect is the documented route for an end-of-live transition. Turning on Autoplay in the player is not a substitute: it does not configure a redirect for everyone watching your broadcast.

Play multiple videos one after another in an OBS live stream
For “play multiple videos one after another on an OBS YouTube live stream,” make the playlist in OBS using its VLC Video Source. It can play multiple media items and provides playlist loop and shuffle options. VLC must be installed for this source to work. OBS Project: Media Sources
- Install VLC. OBS’s VLC Video Source depends on VLC being installed on the computer running OBS.
- Add the source to your scene. In OBS, add a VLC Video Source and populate its playlist with the media files you want to play. The source’s playlist controls are where you set up the sequence.
- Set the playback behavior. To advance through the items in order once, leave both loop and shuffle off. Turn on loop only if you want the list to begin again after it reaches the end; shuffle changes the playback order.
- Use the scene in your broadcast. Start the YouTube live stream from OBS with the scene containing the VLC Video Source. The playlist is broadcast content; it does not redirect viewers to another YouTube destination when the stream ends.
OBS also has a separate Media Source for an individual media item. For a multi-file sequence with playlist loop and shuffle controls, use VLC Video Source rather than treating a single Media Source as the playlist. OBS Project: Media Sources

Turn on Autoplay when you are watching a playlist
If you mean a normal YouTube playlist you are watching, enable Autoplay in the YouTube player. On desktop, YouTube’s instructions point to the switch at the bottom of the player. With Autoplay on, another related video plays after the current video ends. The setting and instructions can differ across devices, and YouTube lists account and inactivity caveats that can stop autoplay. YouTube Help: Autoplay videos
This is a viewer-side control. It does not arrange clips in an OBS production or set up a Live Redirect for your channel.
