How to Make a YouTube 24/7 Stream Repeat a Playlist in a Fixed Order

YouTube’s Loop button repeats viewer playback, not a live broadcast. To run a fixed-order 24/7 stream, configure the sequence in a playout system and send its feed to YouTube Live.

To repeat prerecorded videos in a fixed order on a YouTube 24/7 live stream, set the sequence and repeat behavior in the playout system that sends video to YouTube. YouTube’s playlist Loop button repeats playback for a viewer; it does not turn a playlist into a live broadcast. For a live channel, create the ordered feed in an encoder or hosted streaming service, then send that feed to YouTube Live.

What “loop a playlist” means for a live stream

YouTube’s viewer-side playlist loop is a playback control: it repeats a playlist for someone watching it. It does not schedule those videos as a live broadcast. YouTube describes an encoder as the software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming; the encoder or a separate playout system must provide the continuous, ordered feed. YouTube’s playlist loop instructions and encoder setup guide cover these as separate functions.

So the key is to configure the playlist in your playout system—not to rely on the viewer’s Loop button. Confirm that the chosen system supports the exact order, repeat behavior, and recovery you need; YouTube’s setup documentation does not specify how to configure those controls in third-party tools.

Choose where the sequence will run

Run it on your own computer

A software encoder or other local playout system can send the ordered sequence to YouTube. You manage the media, sequence, repeat settings, computer, and network connection. A hardware encoder is optional; YouTube also supports software encoders. Dedicated hardware is a production choice, not what makes a playlist repeat.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use a hosted 24/7 service

A cloud service can run the prerecorded-video playout without relying on a computer at home. YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 live streaming of prerecorded videos, but that listing does not establish its current fixed-order controls, plan limits, pricing, or terms. Check a provider’s current documentation for the specific playlist and recovery behavior you require.

For a YouTube-only cloud option, StreamNeo is #1: it runs an always-on stream from the cloud, plays uploads at their original quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free. See StreamNeo for current service details.

Set up the YouTube Live connection

  1. Check channel eligibility early. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time activation of live streaming may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch day. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup guide.
  2. Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule the stream. In the Stream tab, copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter these in your encoder or hosted service’s stream settings. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
  3. Configure the playout sequence. In the encoder or service, add the videos in the order you want them to play, enable repeat or loop for the full sequence, and check what happens when an item ends or the connection drops. Exact control names and steps depend on the product, so follow that product’s documentation rather than assuming YouTube provides a playlist scheduler for live feeds.
  4. Check the video encoding settings. YouTube’s current encoder settings list H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS video ingestion, and AAC or MP3 audio. YouTube recommends constant bitrate encoding, a 2-second keyframe interval, and no more than 4 seconds between keyframes. Recommended bitrates vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate; use YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current values that match your output. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport.
  5. Preview before going public. Start the encoder or service output, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, and confirm that the correct video and audio arrive. Only then start the stream publicly. YouTube recommends checking the preview and monitoring audio and video quality while live; see its live streaming tips and settings.
  6. Verify the loop over a full cycle. Watch the transition from the final video back to the first and check for gaps, unexpected ordering, or silent sections. A successful connection to YouTube confirms that a feed is arriving; it does not by itself confirm that the playout system has the desired order or repeat behavior.

Plan for archives, copyright, and reused content

Do not count on one 24/7 archive

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast should not be treated as one guaranteed uninterrupted archive. If you need recordings, plan a separate way to retain the source videos or capture shorter broadcasts, and check YouTube’s current archive rules for your setup. See YouTube’s encoder guide.

Make sure you have rights to every video and track

Permission to upload or stream a documentary, clip, image, or music track is not automatic just because it is online or included in a playlist. Check licenses and permissions for every asset before broadcasting. Copyright claims or other restrictions can interrupt a stream or affect a channel.

Consider monetization separately from streaming eligibility

Being able to stream does not guarantee that a channel or a repeated-video format qualifies for monetization. YouTube reviews channels under its monetization policies; make sure the programming adds meaningful original value and complies with current rules rather than assuming that continuous playback is enough.

Choose a method by the responsibility you want to keep

Approach Where the feed runs What you must verify
Local encoder and playout system Your computer and network That the software can order and repeat the videos, and that the computer and connection stay available.
Hosted service The provider’s cloud system That its current product supports your fixed order, repeat behavior, recovery needs, and commercial terms.

Dedicated encoder hardware is optional for this use case. Choose it only if your production setup calls for it; it does not replace the need for a playout system that controls the sequence.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • The playlist plays for viewers, but there is no live broadcast: the viewer’s Loop control only repeats playback. Create a live stream in Live Control Room and send it a feed from an encoder or hosted playout service.
  • YouTube shows no preview: check that the encoder is running and that its stream URL and key match the current stream in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the channel has live-streaming access and that first-time activation is complete.
  • The wrong video plays or the order changes: inspect the playout system’s queue or playlist, then confirm that repeat applies to the entire sequence rather than one item. Control names and behavior vary by product.
  • The stream stops after a video ends or the connection drops: check whether the playout system is configured to advance and repeat, and whether it can resume after a disconnect. YouTube’s ingest workflow does not configure this behavior for third-party systems.
  • Video is choppy or audio is missing: compare the output codec, audio format, bitrate, and keyframe interval with YouTube’s current encoder settings. Review the incoming preview and the encoder’s own output status.
  • You expected a single recording of the whole broadcast: YouTube’s documented automatic archive condition is for streams under 12 hours. Use a separate recording plan for a continuous 24/7 feed.

Or let it run in the cloud
