Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11For a compatibility-oriented 1080p, 30 fps YouTube Live stream from FFmpeg, use H.264 video at a constant 14 Mbps target, AAC stereo audio at 128 Kbps, a two-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS if your FFmpeg build and YouTube ingest URL support it. YouTube lists 5 Mbps as the H.264 minimum at this resolution and frame rate. If you encode in AV1 or H.265/HEVC instead, YouTube lists 10 Mbps recommended and 4 Mbps minimum. Choose based on the codec you actually send and what your upload connection can sustain.
Those are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a guarantee that every Tamil playlist will play smoothly. Check the source files, rehearse the stream with representative audio and movement, monitor YouTube’s stream health, and confirm that you have the rights to livestream each track.
Recommended 1080p30 settings
YouTube’s current encoder guidance gives different bitrate targets by codec. For an uncomplicated FFmpeg example, H.264 is the compatibility-oriented choice. The bitrate values below are YouTube recommendations, not independent quality measurements; YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple playback formats. Confirm the current guidance before a broadcast because platform settings can change.
| Setting | Recommended target for this stream |
|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 1920 Ă— 1080, progressive, 30 fps |
| Video codec | H.264 for the example below; YouTube also lists H.265/HEVC and AV1 |
| Video bitrate, H.264 | 14 Mbps recommended; 5 Mbps minimum |
| Video bitrate, AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 10 Mbps recommended; 4 Mbps minimum |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate) |
| Keyframes | Every 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds. At 30 fps, a two-second GOP is 60 frames. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 is listed; 128 Kbps is YouTube’s recommendation for stereo. AAC is used in the example. |
| Protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS where supported |
| SDR color | Rec. 709; YouTube lists 8-bit SDR |
For AV1 or HEVC, use the corresponding bitrate target only if your installed FFmpeg encoder and the YouTube ingest path support that codec. The example command below is H.264, not an AV1 or HEVC recipe.

Prepare the Tamil playlist before streaming
Check the files
A playlist may contain files with different dimensions, frame rates, codecs, audio layouts, or no audio at all. Those differences can complicate concatenation or cause visible and audible changes between tracks. Decide whether to make the inputs consistent or deliberately normalize them, then test the transitions. There is no universal concat command that can be assumed to work unchanged for every set of media files.
- Confirm that the source files decode correctly and that the playlist order is the one you intend.
- Check the resolution, frame rate, video and audio codecs, and whether each file has an audio stream.
- Run a test across track changes; do not assume that individually playable files will join seamlessly.
Choose the playlist input method
For one file, the example uses a normal FFmpeg input. For a list of files, you may need FFmpeg’s concat demuxer or another playlist approach. The right syntax depends on the files and how they are encoded. Test the exact playlist locally before using the output for a scheduled broadcast.

Illustrative FFmpeg command for H.264
This is a schematic configuration based on YouTube’s encoder targets and FFmpeg’s documented real-time pacing behavior. It has not been tested against your computer, playlist, FFmpeg build, or stream key.
ffmpeg -re -i INPUT
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -b:v 14M -maxrate 14M -bufsize 28M
-r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0 -pix_fmt yuv420p
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://INGEST_URL/STREAM_KEY"
Replace INPUT with your media input and use the ingest URL supplied in YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the command’s buffer size and encoder preset as implementation choices, not values prescribed by YouTube. The URL shown is a placeholder; do not paste it literally.

-rereads a file at its native frame rate (equivalent to-readrate 1), which helps pace file-based output for a live stream. FFmpeg warns against applying a low read rate to a real capture device or live input, where it can cause packet loss.-b:vand-maxrateset the video target and cap in this example; the values reflect the H.264 1080p30 target.-g 60sets a 60-frame GOP, or two seconds at 30 fps. The minimum keyframe interval is also set to 60 frames, with scene-cut keyframes disabled in this example.-pix_fmt yuv420pis a common 8-bit SDR pixel format for this H.264 example. YouTube’s listed SDR color space is Rec. 709; this command does not by itself verify or correct the color metadata of your source files.-f flvselects the output container used for this RTMP-family workflow.
Check that your FFmpeg build includes libx264 and RTMPS support, and that YouTube recognizes the incoming stream. Exact support depends on the installed build and ingest path. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
Make sure the connection can carry the stream
The upload connection must sustain the total outgoing bitrate, including audio and protocol overhead. YouTube advises running a speed test and ensuring that total streaming bitrate does not exceed available upload bandwidth. Leave practical headroom rather than targeting the connection’s full measured capacity; if the stream is unstable, reduce the video bitrate or resolution and test again.

- Measure upload capacity on the connection you will actually use.
- Choose a bitrate the connection can sustain reliably, taking the audio and overhead into account.
- Start a rehearsal with sound and motion similar to the planned stream.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room for stream health and messages, then adjust and retest if needed.
Set up the YouTube stream and test it
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or open the stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key.
- Put the ingest URL and private key into the FFmpeg output target. Do not publish or share the key.
- Start FFmpeg with the tested input and settings, then confirm that YouTube receives the stream and reports healthy status.
- Watch the rehearsal through track transitions and listen for missing, mismatched, or abruptly changing audio.
- During the broadcast, monitor YouTube’s stream health and its messages so you can respond to ingest or connection problems.
YouTube describes latency as the delay between capture and playback, and notes that lower latency can increase buffering. For a prerecorded playlist, choose latency based on whether real-time audience interaction matters. Encoder settings alone do not establish a particular end-to-end delay.
Check rights for every Tamil track
The license status of your Tamil recordings is not determined by the encoding settings. Before streaming, confirm that the relevant rights permit livestreaming and any intended monetization in the territories where you plan to broadcast. Owning a recording or physical copy does not, by itself, establish permission to livestream it.
