For one cartoon, use YouTube’s built-in Loop command; for several, put the selected videos in a playlist and loop that. Then set the plugged-in Windows sleep timeout so the PC stays awake. This can keep playback going for long stretches, but it cannot guarantee all-day unattended playback: YouTube may ask whether you are still watching.
Choose between one cartoon and a curated playlist
If you want the same cartoon to repeat, open its YouTube watch page on your computer. If you want several cartoons to cycle in a chosen order, create a playlist and add those videos. You can choose a privacy setting, including Private, when creating the playlist.
These are different from Autoplay: Loop repeats the video or playlist you chose, while Autoplay queues a related video after the current one ends. Use Autoplay only if you are comfortable with YouTube selecting what plays next.
Loop a single YouTube video
- Open the cartoon’s YouTube watch page on the spare PC.
- Right-click inside the video player.
- Select Loop from the player menu. The video will repeat when it reaches the end.
YouTube’s desktop player includes this control, so a separate looping application is not needed for this basic setup. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube – Computer.

Create and loop a playlist
- Open a video you want in the sequence and use YouTube’s playlist option to create a playlist. Give it a name and choose its privacy setting; Private is available.
- Add the other cartoons you want to play to that playlist. You can create a playlist from a video page on desktop and save selected videos to it. YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.
- Open a video in the playlist. Expand the playlist beside the video if it is not already visible.
- Select the playlist’s Loop control. YouTube will cycle through the selected videos instead of relying on recommendations.
The single-video and playlist Loop controls are documented for YouTube on computers. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube – Computer.
Keep the Windows PC awake while plugged in
In Windows 11, open Start > Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts. Adjust the plugged-in screen and sleep timeouts for the period you intend to play the cartoons. The screen timeout controls when the display turns off; the sleep timeout controls when the PC sleeps. They are separate settings, and the PC must stay awake for browser playback to continue. Menu availability can vary by device. Microsoft Support: Change the power mode for your Windows PC.

If the spare PC is a laptop
Check what happens when the lid closes. Many PCs, especially laptops and tablets, can sleep when the lid closes or the power button is pressed. Confirm the plugged-in lid action in Windows’ power settings before leaving the laptop unattended. Microsoft Support: Shut down, sleep, or hibernate your PC.
Test playback—and understand the all-day limit
Start the video or playlist while you are nearby. Confirm the appropriate Loop control is active, then check during your intended playback interval that the PC does not enter sleep. This verifies the settings for your device; it does not remove YouTube’s own interruptions.

YouTube says its “Video paused. Continue watching?” prompt can appear before 60 minutes of uninterrupted watching on web when Autoplay is on. Someone may need to confirm the prompt to resume playback. As a result, a looping video or playlist and an awake PC do not guarantee unattended playback all day. YouTube Help: Autoplay videos.
Check whether the PC still runs Windows 10
Windows 10 may still run, but Microsoft ended support on October 14, 2025. Microsoft no longer provides free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. That matters if you plan to keep an internet-connected spare PC in regular use. Microsoft Support: Change the power mode for your Windows PC.
