How to Keep a YouTube Live Real Estate Tour Active When the Video Ends

Enable Loop for one OBS Media Source or Loop Playlist for several clips, then keep OBS output running and monitor the YouTube Live Control Room.

To keep a YouTube Live real estate tour running after a file ends, keep your encoder sending video: in OBS, enable Loop on a Media Source for one tour video, or enable Loop Playlist on a VLC Video source for several clips. Then confirm the feed continues in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. YouTube ends a stream when the encoder stops sending content.

Why the stream ends when the tour video finishes

The video file and the YouTube Live event are separate. A file reaching its end does not have to end the event, but the encoder must continue sending a valid feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance says to end a stream by stopping content from the encoder. If playback ends and the encoder stops output, the live event can end too. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the stream workflow.

For a looping tour, configure the playback source to repeat and leave OBS running. A repeated file will show the same footage again, so check that the transition, audio, and any on-screen information make sense when the video returns to its beginning.

Set up a single looping tour video in OBS

  1. Create or select the YouTube event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select the live event. Copy its stream URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. The stream key is a credential; keep it private. See YouTube’s encoder instructions.
  2. Add the tour file. In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene that will be live, then select the video file in its properties.
  3. Enable looping. Turn on Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS documents that this makes the file play again after playback completes; the documented default is off. See OBS Media Sources.
  4. Start and verify the feed. Start streaming from OBS and check the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the correct scene, picture, and audio are present before relying on the event.
  5. Keep the encoder active. Do not stop OBS or its stream output at the end of the file. With Loop enabled, the source should return to the beginning while OBS continues sending the feed.

Loop a playlist of several tour clips

Use this approach when the broadcast should move through multiple property-tour files before starting over.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  1. Install VLC if needed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source. On 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
  2. Add a VLC Video source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the live scene and populate its playlist with the clips in the desired order.
  3. Enable Loop Playlist. Turn on the playlist repeat option so playback starts again when the list runs out. OBS documents source visibility behavior too; its default is to stop playback when the source is not visible and restart when visible. Make sure the source remains visible in the active scene or configure its behavior for the way your scenes are used.
  4. Test the complete sequence. Let the playlist reach its end during a test and verify that it restarts, the transition is acceptable, and audio remains usable. Keep OBS output running and monitor the YouTube preview.

OBS documents these source controls and VLC requirements in its Media Sources guide.

Check the YouTube feed and stream settings

  • Preview and health: In Live Control Room, check the incoming preview and stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing, checking the preview, verifying access on channel or watch pages and mobile, and monitoring audio and video during the broadcast. Its live streaming tips describe these checks.
  • Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. These are platform recommendations, not a universal bitrate or resolution prescription for every tour setup. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
  • Ingest: YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Use the stream URL and key associated with the event, following YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
  • Archive expectations: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement is not a guarantee against outages, encoder failures, or an event ending early; do not assume the same archive behavior for a longer broadcast without checking current YouTube rules. See the encoder guide.

Choose the playback method that fits the production

Approach Best suited to What to enable or verify Trade-off
OBS Media Source One tour file Loop Simple setup, but repeats the same footage.
OBS VLC Video playlist Several tour clips Loop Playlist; VLC installed and playlist configured Allows a sequence, with an extra dependency and playlist setup.
Dedicated hardware encoder A production already built around external encoder hardware Confirm the specific model supports local-file or playlist playback and looping, then configure its YouTube output. YouTube recognizes hardware encoders as an option, but its cited guidance does not establish that every model can loop local files. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.

Troubleshoot an ended stream or blank playback

  • The event ends at the file boundary: Check that Loop is enabled on the actual Media Source, or Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source. OBS documents Loop as off by default for Media Source.
  • The event stays live but the picture goes blank: Confirm the source is in the active scene, visible, and still outputting. For VLC Video, check source visibility behavior; the default stops playback while hidden and restarts it when visible.
  • The feed is missing or will not connect: Verify that the encoder has the correct event’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s typical encoder workflow requires both.
  • Picture or audio quality is wrong: Check the Live Control Room preview and health messages, then inspect the local recording or archive where available. YouTube recommends continuous monitoring and checking local archive integrity in its live streaming tips.
  • The loop works but the tour feels jarring: Review the file’s end-to-start transition and audio in a test. The OBS repeat controls replay the file or playlist; they do not establish that the transition will be seamless.

Protect rights in the tour material

Streaming setup does not determine whether you may rebroadcast a property tour. Confirm that you have permission for the listing footage, music, voiceover, and any other material included, especially before leaving a repeated broadcast running. YouTube’s streaming setup documentation does not establish rights for a particular file.

End the broadcast deliberately

When the planned tour broadcast is over, end it in Live Control Room and stop the encoder as appropriate. Avoid stopping the encoder at a file boundary if the goal is to keep the YouTube event active; stop it when you intend the event to end.
