Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo run a 24/7 Indian lo-fi music channel on YouTube, verify your channel, enable live streaming, clear the rights for every recording and composition, then send a prepared audio-and-visual feed through an encoder to YouTube Live. Test the stream and plan for breaks: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so do not expect one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast to become a single automatic archive.
Before you begin: confirm eligibility and clear the music
Check that the channel can go live
YouTube’s platform-wide requirements include a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its general guidance says creators must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance.
Clear both the recording and the composition
Before scheduling the broadcast, establish that you have the necessary rights for each sound recording and the underlying composition, for the territories and uses you intend. YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. The precise Indian permissions depend on the repertoire, rights holders and planned uses; the platform guidance does not determine the license needed for a particular catalog.
- Confirm that your permissions cover live streaming, not only personal listening or uploading.
- Check whether the license also covers an archived video or other on-demand playback, and whether monetization is permitted.
- Confirm the covered territories and duration, and retain the license terms and relevant correspondence.
- If a rights holder requires it, arrange to have your channel added to its Content ID allowlist before going live.
A “royalty-free” label by itself does not establish that all these uses are covered. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content. A match can cause the stream to be replaced with a placeholder, interrupted or terminated. YouTube says licensed third-party content may still trigger interruption if the channel is not on the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist. Review its copyright guidance for live streams.

Prepare the 24/7 lo-fi broadcast
Build a continuous feed
Prepare the audio playlist and the visual feed you want viewers to see, such as a static image or an animation you have rights to use. For a radio-style channel, the encoder sends this produced feed to YouTube; it is not necessary to broadcast from a camera. Check the full playlist for gaps, abrupt level changes, silence and unwanted transitions. Make sure the visual assets are cleared too.
Choose software or hardware encoding
YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Choose based on your production needs, budget and ability to monitor and recover the feed; the platform’s documentation does not establish that dedicated hardware is necessary or that it improves uptime. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes these options. This workflow does not require a particular brand or model.

Plan the archive and restarts
YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That rule does not promise one automatic archive for a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast. Decide in advance whether you will schedule shorter broadcasts and restart the feed, and how you will handle any break in playback. If you need a recording, do not rely on the live connection alone: test the archive behavior with your setup and keep a separate recording if your rights and production workflow allow it. YouTube’s encoder instructions explain the stream workflow and archive rule.
Create the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a stream or schedule one for a later time. Configure its title, description, visibility and other available settings in Live Control Room. YouTube’s live stream settings help covers configuration, stream-key management and auto-start or auto-stop options.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL (server URL) and stream key for the broadcast. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Enter the details in your encoder. Select the YouTube or custom RTMP destination supported by your encoder, then enter the stream URL and key in their corresponding fields. Select the prepared playlist and visual feed, and verify that the encoder is configured to send the intended audio and video.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Start streaming from the encoder. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room, then check that the picture and sound are correct before selecting Go live for a scheduled stream. For a stream configured with auto-start, understand and test that behavior before relying on it.
- Confirm what viewers receive. Open the public watch page and check playback on a phone as well as your monitoring device. Confirm the title, visibility, audio continuity and visual presentation. YouTube recommends checking the preview, watch page, mobile playback, archive integrity and audio/video quality in its live-streaming tips.
Operate the channel and handle common problems
Make monitoring part of the schedule
A connected encoder does not prove that viewers can hear the complete playlist or that the stream will run without interruption. Check the live preview and watch page after launch, and keep a defined process for noticing silence, frozen visuals, a dropped connection or a YouTube interruption. If the broadcast stops, verify the rights status and encoder connection before restarting; if the stream key may have been exposed, reset it rather than reusing it.

Troubleshooting checklist
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel, check for live-stream restrictions, and confirm that activation has completed. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- Live Control Room receives no feed: recheck that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key, is pointed at YouTube, and is actively sending the selected feed. Reset and replace the key if you suspect it has been compromised.
- The stream is interrupted after music begins: check YouTube’s copyright notifications and contact the relevant rights holder. Confirm that the channel has been allowlisted if required; having a license does not necessarily prevent a Content ID interruption without allowlisting.
- The stream plays but the archive is missing or not what you expected: check the broadcast duration and archive status. YouTube’s automatic archive rule applies to streams under 12 hours; test the behavior and plan shorter broadcasts if you need predictable archived segments.
- Viewers report silence, poor sound or a frozen image: compare the encoder output with the Live Control Room preview and public watch page. Check the playlist and audio/video feed at the source, then confirm playback on mobile as well.
Monetization and optional ingestion details
YouTube says creators may earn revenue on live streams through ads and Super Chat, with channel memberships available to some channels; eligibility is not guaranteed for every channel. Monetization does not replace the need to clear music rights.
Most creators using an encoder can follow the connection workflow above. HLS is an optional ingestion route for supported encoders, not a requirement for an ordinary RTMP setup. For HLS, YouTube documents 1–4 second segments, TS segment format, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. See YouTube’s HLS setup instructions.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not keep an encoder computer and home connection running, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube, not a camera feed or other platforms. There is no need to leave a computer running at home; uploaded quality is preserved up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. You still need the rights to every recording and composition you stream. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
