Yes. Set up each sermon layout as its own OBS scene, then switch between them while OBS keeps sending one encoder feed to YouTube. Changing scenes does not end the YouTube stream; ending the broadcast is a separate action.
How to alternate between two sermon layouts
- Create the scenes. In OBS, add a scene for each layout, such as a full camera view and a camera view with scripture or service graphics. Add the camera, text, graphics, and other sources each layout needs. OBS scenes are layouts assembled from sources, and the OBS Studio Overview Guide says you can create and name as many scenes as you want. Read the OBS Studio Overview Guide.
- Choose how the change looks. Use Cut for an immediate switch or Fade for a gradual one, and configure the transition duration if needed. You can switch by selecting a scene, using Quick Transitions, or assigning a hotkey. Pick a method the operator can use reliably during the service.
- Optionally use Studio Mode. Studio Mode lets the operator prepare the next scene in the edit area while the current scene remains live. When it is ready, select Transition to put it on air. This is useful when the next layout needs checking before viewers see it.
- Connect OBS to YouTube and start the encoder feed. Use the stream URL and stream key in the encoder setup, then start streaming in OBS. Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room before the service. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover connecting and starting a stream.
- Switch scenes without stopping the feed. Perform the transition when the sermon layout needs to change. OBS continues sending the encoder feed; the scene change is not an instruction to end the YouTube event.
- After the broadcast, end it separately. Follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to stop the feed and end the stream. Do not treat a scene switch as the end-of-service action.
Choose a transition and operating method

Rehearse and check the live output
Run through both scenes with the actual camera, graphics, and audio sources before the service. Check the YouTube preview, then verify the picture and sermon audio after each transition. YouTube’s live-stream preflight tips recommend checking the preview and monitoring audio and video; checking sermon audio specifically after a scene change is a practical way to catch a source or mix issue before it affects the broadcast.
