No. AWS documents Elemental MediaPackage as a service that packages and originates streams, not as a playout engine that repeatedly reads and loops a prerecorded file. To make a recording appear as a continuous live broadcast, looping must happen in an upstream playout or encoding component. MediaPackage may be used afterward if its packaging functions are needed.
What MediaPackage does in a live workflow
AWS describes MediaPackage as a just-in-time packaging and origination service for live, video-on-demand, live-to-VOD, and catch-up TV workflows. In its documented live flow, an upstream encoder sends MediaPackage a live HLS stream. A player or CDN requests an output from a MediaPackage endpoint, which dynamically packages and serves the stream over HTTPS. See AWS’s MediaPackage overview and live processing flow.
That division of work matters: the encoder or playout system creates the continuous stream; MediaPackage packages and originates it for downstream playback. AWS’s getting-started guide likewise describes a channel as the input for live content from an encoder and an endpoint as an output for players or CDNs. Multiple endpoints can serve different output settings or formats, but they do not turn MediaPackage into a file playback scheduler.
Where prerecorded playback belongs
Put the repeat or continuous-playback function in an upstream playout or encoding component that can emit a live stream. MediaPackage can then sit downstream if the workflow needs its packaging and origination capabilities. AWS names MediaLive as one example of an upstream encoder in its description of the MediaPackage flow.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
MediaLive documentation lists some prerecorded input options: its supported-input table includes MP4 as a VOD input, and describes HLS input as live or VOD depending on buffer-segment settings. Its file-input documentation also lists static TS files and MP4/HLS paths from HTTP(S) servers or S3. These establish that certain VOD assets can be ingested; they do not establish that MediaLive automatically repeats one file indefinitely.
Does MediaPackage connect directly to YouTube Live?
The AWS documentation cited here describes AWS service roles and input types; it does not establish YouTube’s current ingest protocol, accepted endpoint formats, or a direct MediaPackage-to-YouTube integration. Do not assume that a MediaPackage endpoint can be entered as YouTube’s ingest URL. Check YouTube’s current official live-streaming and encoder requirements, then verify that the chosen component’s output and delivery route are supported. Whether MediaPackage belongs between the playout encoder and YouTube depends on that verified path.

Practical options for a continuous YouTube broadcast
| Option | What it does | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Upstream playout or encoder, with MediaPackage if needed | The upstream component handles continuous playback and emits the live stream; MediaPackage can package a stream downstream. | Confirm the playout component’s repeat behavior and verify the complete output and delivery route against YouTube’s current requirements. The AWS pages cited above do not provide a complete YouTube recipe. |
| StreamNeo | #1 for a managed 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream: it loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so a computer does not have to stay on; any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps uses one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. | StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not camera-based live production. See StreamNeo for details. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube stream without managing an AWS playout pipeline, StreamNeo’s workflow is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start a free day with StreamNeo.
