If Wirecast says your subscription is not renewing, first find out whether you bought a subscription or a perpetual license with an expired support plan. Then check the purchase record in the correct store account. Only troubleshoot Wirecast activation after the order status is clear: billing and local activation are separate problems, and the right fix depends on which one you have.
Start by identifying the license and the exact error
Before changing settings, write down the full error message, your Wirecast version, your operating system, and whether you bought a subscription or a perpetual (lifetime) license. Find the order confirmation or receipt and note which email address and purchase channel were used. Do not post your serial number, receipt, or payment information publicly.
These details help distinguish an unsuccessful renewal from a license activation problem. Public information cannot establish what happened to an individual order, so an unclear account status needs to be checked with Telestream or the reseller that sold the license.
Check the order in the store where you bought Wirecast
Use the purchase date and channel to find the relevant commerce account. Telestream’s Wirecast Help directs buyers to these order-history services:

- Purchases through a reseller: contact that reseller about the order and renewal.
In the matching account, confirm that you are using the same email address as the original purchase and review the order, transaction history, and renewal status. A payment rejection, a disabled renewal, or an account-email mismatch can only be confirmed from the account or by the seller; do not assume any one of these is the cause.
If you have a subscription
Use the commerce account associated with that subscription to check its current status and transaction record. If the account does not explain why renewal failed, contact the commerce provider or Telestream support with the order details. If you bought through a reseller, start with the reseller.

If you have a perpetual license with expired support
An expired support plan on a perpetual license is not the same as a failed subscription payment. Telestream says it no longer sells support renewals for perpetual or lifetime licenses. Its stated option for users who want updates and expert email support is to purchase a new subscription. Check your order and license type before attempting to renew an old support plan.
If the purchase is valid but Wirecast rejects the license
When the purchase record looks correct but the app still reports an activation error, troubleshoot activation rather than repeating payment steps. Telestream says a single desktop license may be active on one computer at a time. If you have moved to another computer, an activation on the previous machine may need to be deactivated, or the license may need to be reset.

- Choose the procedure for your operating system, Mac or Windows, and follow its instructions for deactivation or activation troubleshooting.
- If the activation limit is the issue and you cannot use the original computer, follow Telestream’s directions for its License Reset Tool.
- If the official steps do not resolve the error, contact Telestream support and provide the error text and order details privately.
The activation procedures may remove local preference files and affect application settings. Follow the instructions for your own operating system rather than applying a partial cleanup found elsewhere. Telestream describes its license reset resource as self-service and available 24/7; that does not establish that every renewal or account problem can be fixed with a reset.
Confirm your version and test the YouTube output
In its Wirecast 16.3 Windows guide, Telestream documents that an expired support subscription prevents upgrading to a newer unlocked version, while the last version released during the active support period remains usable. The guide also says demo mode watermarks output when no active serial number is available. Those details are specific to that guide and version: check your installed version and the license status shown by your copy of Wirecast.

Once the license is recognized, verify the planned YouTube output before the scheduled stream. Confirm that Wirecast selects the intended licensed state and that the output goes to the correct YouTube event or destination. A resolved license does not by itself confirm that the YouTube stream is configured correctly. Telestream recommends an internet connection for license activation.
Telestream’s version history lists Wirecast 16.5.3 dated June 10, 2026. Check the Wirecast Version History for the current release and your eligibility before updating. An update does not resolve a billing or commerce-account problem.
