If YouTube starts buffering while your home server uploads a playlist, first pause the upload and see whether playback recovers. If it does, compare your connection’s latency while idle and during the upload: a large upload can cause congestion or high latency, but timing alone does not prove the cause. Start with free checks—upload scheduling or rate limiting, MyJio diagnostics, Wi-Fi conditions, and playback quality—before considering router changes.
First check whether the upload and buffering are connected
- Note the timing. Observe whether buffering begins when the server starts uploading and eases when the upload stops.
- Pause the upload. Replay the video, then resume the upload and watch for the problem to return. If practical, repeat once under similar conditions. A repeatable pattern is useful evidence, but it does not by itself identify the cause.
- Compare latency, not just speed. Use a test that reports latency both on an idle connection and while upload or download traffic is active. A throughput-only result may not reveal delays that appear under load.
The Bufferbloat Project describes bufferbloat as high latency when there is other traffic on the network. It recommends comparing idle and loaded latency. Its guidance for the tests it references is that latency below roughly 15–25 ms indicates bufferbloat is under control; that is a project rule of thumb, not a universal standard or a JioFiber service target.
Reduce upload-time pressure and check JioFiber
Limit or schedule the server upload
As a diagnostic experiment, limit the server’s upload rate or schedule the playlist upload for a time when the household is not watching video. Then repeat the latency check and playback observation. There is no established ideal upload cap for every household: the useful rate depends on the actual connection, server, and other network use.
Run MyJio diagnostics
In the MyJio app, open the JioFiber service and run Run Diagnostics. Jio says this can check connection or network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, and device connectivity, and can guide you about issues such as weak signal, speed drops, or device overload. The diagnostic description does not say it measures latency during an active upload, so use a loaded-latency test separately.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check Wi-Fi and playback quality
- Move the YouTube device closer to the router, and avoid obstacles or sources of interference where possible.
- Pause other heavy network activity and disconnect devices that are not needed. Jio notes that active Wi-Fi devices and simultaneous heavy applications use bandwidth and can congest a connection.
- Lower YouTube’s playback quality temporarily. If lower quality plays reliably, that helps distinguish a capacity or stability problem from an app or device fault.
- If buffering persists, try YouTube’s other troubleshooting options, such as clearing the app cache or testing a different internet connection. These are general checks, not a diagnosis of the home-server scenario.
When to investigate bufferbloat and SQM
If latency rises substantially under load and the upload correlates with buffering, investigate whether your router can manage queues using Smart Queue Management (SQM). The Bufferbloat Project describes SQM algorithms such as CAKE and fq_codel and recommends tuning against measured link speeds, then checking latency and performance again.
Do not assume that a faster advertised plan will solve excessive queueing in a router. Nor is an expensive or gaming-branded router automatically a cure. Before buying equipment, identify your current JioFiber router or gateway, network topology, required throughput, and firmware support. Confirm that any additional router can be used in your actual JioFiber setup. The right choice and compatibility are installation-specific; no particular router model is established as a universal fit.

Choose a fix based on what the tests show
- Playback recovers when the upload pauses, and loaded latency rises: try scheduling or limiting the upload; if the pattern remains, investigate SQM and compatibility.
- Playback improves when the YouTube device moves closer or quality is lowered: address Wi-Fi conditions or playback demand before buying a router.
- MyJio identifies a connection, signal, router, or device issue: follow the app’s instructions and retest.
- Pausing the upload makes no difference: investigate the YouTube app or device, Wi-Fi, and general connection separately; the timing may have been coincidental.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the playlist is for a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo is an alternative to running that stream from the home server. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud. This can remove the home server’s continuous streaming traffic, but it does not diagnose or guarantee a fix for unrelated JioFiber buffering, and it is not for live camera input.
