Before you configure the machine, clear the music for the intended YouTube use and ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A cloud PC can keep an encoder running; it cannot grant music rights or prevent YouTube from matching uncleared content.
What you need before you start
- Music rights: permission for both the sound recordings and the underlying compositions, for the intended use and territories. Ask the relevant rights holders, label or distributor about Content ID allowlisting for your channel.
- YouTube live access: a verified channel with no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube sets 16 as the minimum age for live streaming. For a first-time stream, YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before you plan to go live.
- A cloud PC and OBS: use a host whose terms and local availability suit continuous encoding. The OBS Project says performance depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate and scene complexity; compatible hardware alone does not guarantee a stable stream.
- A continuity plan: decide how you will monitor the encoder, recover from interruptions, and handle recordings of a stream that may run longer than 12 hours.
No particular Indian music catalogue, licensing route, cloud provider, or universal VM specification is established here. Confirm the rights and the provider’s current terms for your own circumstances rather than assuming that a song’s availability online means it is cleared for a continuous live broadcast.
Clear the Indian music catalogue first
Check both parts of each track’s rights
Make a track-level inventory and establish who controls each sound recording and composition, which territories are covered, and whether continuous YouTube live use is permitted. Keep written confirmations. Rights and licensing arrangements can differ by track, rights holder and territory; general platform guidance is not a substitute for catalogue-specific clearance.
Request Content ID allowlisting
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. A stream can be interrupted even when you have a license if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music. Ask the owner to allowlist the channel before launch and confirm which channel identifier they need.

Content ID allowlisting is not a license: you still need permission for the music and use. YouTube’s separate guidance on Content ID live matching concerns eligible content owners and does not give ordinary streamers permission to play matched works.
Prepare YouTube and OBS on the cloud PC
- Confirm channel eligibility. Verify the channel, check for live-stream restrictions, and enable live streaming in advance. A first-time streamer should leave at least 24 hours after enabling it before the planned broadcast.
- Choose and test the cloud PC. Select a machine and network service permitted for continuous use in your region. Install OBS and run its Auto Configuration Wizard as a starting point. Test the chosen VM under the actual resolution, frame rate, encoder and scene load; there is no universal cloud-PC specification that guarantees a 24/7 stream.
- Set the OBS output for the tested machine and source. Match the output resolution and frame rate to the material and the encoder capacity you have verified. Use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations in the stream setup for the bitrate, keyframe interval and other output values; the figures vary with output settings, and no single numeric profile is established here for every cloud PC and stream. Avoid choosing a higher output than the machine can encode reliably.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Copy the stream server URL and stream key shown for that stream into OBS’s streaming configuration. Use the secure RTMPS server option when provided. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, and replace it if it is exposed.
- Start OBS and check the incoming preview. Confirm that the video loop and audio arrive correctly in YouTube’s Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, wait for the encoder preview before selecting Go live in Live Control Room.
- Validate the full operating cycle before public launch. Check audio routing, the visual loop, cloud-session persistence, network stability, monitoring, and what happens after an encoder or connection restart. These are operational checks to perform on your chosen host, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
Choose output settings without guessing
There is no single bitrate, resolution, frame rate or keyframe value that can be prescribed for every source and cloud PC from the available platform and OBS guidance. Use the recommendations displayed for your YouTube encoder setup, then validate that the selected cloud PC sustains them with the real playlist and scene. If OBS reports encoding or network problems, reduce output demands and test again rather than assuming the cloud host can handle any setting.

- Resolution and frame rate: base them on the source material and a successful sustained test, not on an aspirational maximum.
- Bitrate and keyframes: use the current YouTube encoder guidance for the selected output and transport; do not apply a number from an unrelated resolution or frame rate.
- Audio: check that OBS receives the intended source and that it remains audible through the full loop. Confirm the preview before starting publicly.
- Transport: YouTube documents RTMPS as RTMP carried over SSL. Select the secure server endpoint offered for the stream where available.
Plan for a stream that runs longer than 12 hours
YouTube’s encoder-stream guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour-or-longer stream will produce a complete archive. If you need VODs, test a segmentation or restart workflow and verify the resulting archives before promising viewers that the full broadcast will be available afterward.
Do not confuse Google Cloud’s 24-hour session wording for channels managed through its Live Stream API with an OBS encoder sending RTMPS from a cloud PC. That API-specific limit does not establish a 24-hour limit for the OBS setup described here.

Troubleshoot common failures

Cost and provider checks for the DIY cloud-PC route
A cloud PC is not automatically the cheapest or most reliable option for continuous streaming. Compare current provider terms, availability in your region, VM encoding capacity, outbound network charges, restart and monitoring controls, archive workflow, and total monthly cost. No provider pricing or performance comparison is established here, so check those details directly before choosing a host.
