Check OBS Stats and the session log first, then reduce scene and encoding workload before changing network equipment or buying hardware. For a 24/7 coaching stream, also test recording, storage, power and connection continuity separately: fixing encoding lag alone does not make a PC-based setup reliable indefinitely.
First identify which part is failing
In OBS, open View > Stats while reproducing the problem. Save the log for the affected session, and note whether OBS reports encoding lag, rendering lag or dropped frames. These point to different issues: encoding overload is a performance problem; dropped frames generally indicate an unstable connection to the ingest server or one that cannot sustain the configured bitrate. OBS says dropped frames are very unlikely to be caused by OBS itself. See the OBS encoding performance guide and OBS stream connection guide.
- Encoding lag: the encoder is not keeping pace. Reduce encoding workload and check the encoder in use.
- Rendering lag: OBS is struggling to composite the scene. A hardware encoder does not remove GPU rendering work.
- Dropped frames: investigate connection stability, upload headroom and the route to the streaming server rather than assuming the encoder is at fault.
Before changing settings, record your operating system and OBS version; CPU and GPU; whether you stream, record or do both; stream and recording encoders; canvas and output resolution; frame rate; and the scene’s sources and filters. Note when the issue begins. Without the session log and those details, there is no sound basis for naming one component as the cause.
Reduce OBS workload, one change at a time
Test a simpler scene
Make a copy of the coaching scene or switch temporarily to a simple test scene. Disable animated overlays, browser sources and expensive filters, and remove sources you do not need. High-resolution media and camera sources can add load. OBS notes that some sources consume resources even when hidden, and browser sources can be resource intensive. If the simple scene helps, restore sources and effects incrementally until the costly element is apparent. Do not leave a test scene in place if it removes something the coaching session needs.

Lower output resolution or frame rate
If simplifying the scene is not enough, reduce output resolution or FPS and compare Stats and the recording. Fewer pixels and frames lower the work required. OBS specifically suggests trying 30 fps if 60 fps is not stable. Preserve a representative test: include the camera or media, audio and overlays used in the real coaching session. Lowering the base canvas is more disruptive because sources may need repositioning; OBS describes it as a later step for systems starved of GPU resources.
Close competing GPU work; try administrator mode on Windows
Close other GPU-heavy applications during a test. If the computer runs Windows, OBS recommends trying to launch OBS as administrator. Change one setting or a small group at a time so the effect is measurable, and check both the Stats window and the resulting recording.

Check the encoder rather than guessing at hardware
Open OBS’s output settings and inspect the encoders actually available on this computer. OBS documents NVENC, AMD AMF, Intel QSV and Apple VideoToolbox, with compatibility and generation caveats. OBS generally recommends hardware encoding for performance because a dedicated component can take encoding work away from the CPU. But it is not an automatic cure: OBS still uses GPU resources to render and composite scenes, and older hardware encoders may produce lower image quality at the same bitrate. Check driver support and whether Stats points to encoding or rendering trouble before switching.

OBS’s system requirements page cautions: “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.” Performance depends on encoder, resolution, frame rate and scene complexity. The Auto Configuration Wizard can give you a hardware-specific starting point, not a guarantee of a stable 24/7 session.
If you stream and record simultaneously, note the encoder and settings used for each output. A machine that handles one output may struggle with both. The right adjustment depends on the bottleneck and the quality needed; the available information does not establish a universal encoder or preset for every Indian creator’s computer.

If the problem is dropped frames, diagnose the connection separately
For a YouTube Live stream, use a speed test and an extended test stream with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast. Monitor YouTube’s stream health and messages. Google’s current encoder guidance lists these H.264 video bitrate recommendations:
| Output | YouTube H.264 recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
These are encoder bitrate recommendations, not guaranteed upload speeds or a promise of reliable delivery. Use YouTube’s live encoder settings for the current recommendation for your chosen resolution and codec. The same guidance recommends CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, not exceeding 4 seconds, and lists RTMP/RTMPS and H.264, H.265 and AV1 options.

OBS offers 75% of total upload capacity as a general starting point for bitrate, but a speed-test result is not proof that upload will remain stable. Leave headroom, use a wired connection where Wi-Fi may be unstable, and consider routing, VPN or security software, and network hardware if the evidence points to a connection issue. See OBS’s connection troubleshooting steps. Do not lower encoder complexity to fix network drops without first confirming the symptom.
Make a 24/7 coaching setup dependable
A short successful test does not establish that a particular PC, power supply, internet connection or storage volume can keep running indefinitely. The cited OBS and YouTube guidance does not establish an India-specific recipe for 24/7 reliability, or a country-wide internet or power cause for encoding overload. Your ISP, wired or Wi-Fi setup, stable upload and power conditions matter to those separate questions.
- Run an extended test representative of the actual coaching stream, including the scene, audio, recording and stream outputs you plan to use.
- Check the recording file after the test and verify that the destination has enough free storage for the intended recording period.
- Keep an eye on OBS Stats and review the log after interruptions, rather than relying only on whether the preview looks smooth.
- Consider a UPS, redundant connection or additional storage only when your own power, connection or capacity limits justify it. None is a direct, documented fix for encoding overload.
India is the location, not a diagnosis. There is no evidence here to support an India-wide bitrate, a particular PC specification or a claim that local power or internet is the cause. Establish the observed bottleneck first.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the coaching broadcast can use uploaded recordings rather than a live camera session, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live by looping uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It is for prerecorded video, not live camera coaching. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
