Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo run a prerecorded rain video as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast with FFmpeg, loop the file, send it to the YouTube ingest URL and stream key from Live Control Room, and keep the FFmpeg process and internet connection running. A loop is not a 24/7 reliability system: unattended operation also needs monitoring and a way to restart the process after a failure.
Before you start
You need a video file with the intended rain visuals and audio, an FFmpeg build with the required encoders and RTMPS support, a YouTube channel enabled for live streaming, and an upload connection that can sustain the stream. Use recordings and visuals you created or are authorized to use. YouTube’s encoder settings recommend testing upload speed and representative audio and video before going live. YouTube’s encoder settings can help you choose a codec and bitrate for the output you plan to send.
Check the installed FFmpeg build before relying on a particular codec or protocol:
ffmpeg -versionshows the version and build configuration.ffmpeg -encoderslists available encoders. Confirm that the video and audio encoders you intend to use are present.
Listen to the audio loop and watch the video transition between repetitions. A distracting sound seam or an obviously repeating short visual can undermine an otherwise stable stream. These are production checks, not guarantees of stream performance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the YouTube Live broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and configure a broadcast in Live Control Room.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream. Use the exact ingest URL YouTube provides and keep the key private: it authorizes publishing to your channel. Do not put a real key in a public script, screenshot or support post.
- Start the encoder and check the preview and stream health in Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, use the Live Control Room action to go live once the preview is ready. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers the workflow.
Start a looping FFmpeg stream
For a local MP4 containing both rain visuals and audio, this is an adaptable starting template. Replace the input filename and the destination with the values for your own stream:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "rain-loop.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune zerolatency
-b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k -g 60
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmps://YOUR_YOUTUBE_INGEST/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This is an example, not a tested command or a universal bitrate prescription. FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 for infinite input looping and -re for reading at the input’s native frame rate. Those options repeat and pace the file; they do not supervise FFmpeg or guarantee a continuous broadcast. See the FFmpeg documentation.

Match the output to the video and connection
- Video codec: The example uses H.264 via
libx264. YouTube’s published live ingest guidance lists H.264, H.265 or AV1 video, and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. Your FFmpeg build must support the encoders you select. - Bitrate: The example’s
4500kvideo bitrate is an illustrative value, not a YouTube recommendation. Select bitrate, resolution and frame rate using YouTube’s current encoder settings for your chosen codec and the upload capacity you have tested. Keep enough connection headroom for a steady feed. - Keyframes: YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval. The example’s
-g 60corresponds to two seconds only at 30 frames per second. Set GOP size to approximately twice your chosen frame rate; for example, 60 at 30 fps or 120 at 60 fps. - Audio: The example encodes AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Check that audio is present, at a suitable level, and loops without a disruptive seam.
- Transport: YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension of RTMP. Use the RTMPS endpoint supplied by YouTube and confirm your FFmpeg build supports it. YouTube’s RTMPS documentation describes the protocol and its use over SSL/TLS on port 443.
If audio and video are separate files
Assign each file as an input and plan its looping and pacing deliberately. Make sure both outputs reach the encoder and consider whether their different durations could cause drift or a noticeable seam. Another option is to prepare and check a single muxed file before streaming. These approaches depend on the source media and your FFmpeg command; test the actual output before relying on it unattended.
When stream copy may work
If the source already uses codecs and settings compatible with YouTube ingest, FFmpeg stream copy can avoid re-encoding and reduce CPU work. Compatibility depends on the media and ingest requirements; it is not a safe assumption for every file. Re-encoding, as in the template, gives you control over output settings but uses computing resources. FFmpeg documents -c copy as copying streams without re-encoding.

Keep the stream running and recover from failures
-stream_loop -1 keeps repeating media only while the FFmpeg process is alive. It does not repair a failed internet connection, restart a crashed process or guarantee that a YouTube ingest session will resume seamlessly. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health, but its guidance does not promise end-to-end 24/7 availability or recovery from every failure.
- Keep FFmpeg logs accessible and check Live Control Room’s preview and stream health.
- If unattended operation matters, run FFmpeg under an operating-system service manager or another supervisor configured to restart it after failure.
- After any restart, verify the new preview and session state in Live Control Room. Treat a restart as a possible interruption rather than assuming the broadcast resumed seamlessly.
- Test the complete setup—including the actual audio and video—before leaving it unattended.
Understand the archive limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a stream lasting longer than 12 hours, nor does it state that an encoder must stop at that duration. If you need a retained recording, plan a separate local recording or deliberately scheduled shorter broadcasts, and check YouTube’s current behavior before relying on an archive.

Copyright and monetization for rain ambience
Having permission to use a recording and qualifying for monetization are separate questions. YouTube’s channel monetization policies expect original, authentic work and flag generic, repetitive, mass-produced or reused material. Reused-content review applies channel-wide; permission to reuse a recording does not, by itself, establish monetization eligibility.
Keep records of the rights and licenses for rain recordings and visuals. Consider building an identifiable original soundscape or presentation instead of republishing minimally changed material. Do not assume that a rain stream will be approved for monetization. YouTube also notes that copyright restrictions can affect an active live stream; advertising suitability and paid product placement rules apply to live broadcasts. Review its live streaming restrictions and follow any sponsorship disclosure requirements that apply.
