You can run a 24/7 YouTube channel of original stop-motion stories by sending a prepared program feed through an encoder to YouTube Live. The channel must be eligible to livestream, the encoder and delivery method must meet YouTube’s requirements, and every visual and audio element needs appropriate rights. YouTube documents continuous broadcasts, but that is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service: you still need a way to keep the feed running and respond to interruptions.
Plan the channel before you go live
Think of the channel as a continuous programmed broadcast, not simply a playlist left unattended. Assemble and review the story library, decide how episodes will be sequenced, choose an encoder workflow, and plan who will monitor the channel. YouTube describes encoder streaming as suitable for feeds involving overlays and external production equipment; it does not require a dedicated hardware encoder. A computer-based encoder may be appropriate if it can reliably play and send the prepared program for the duration you need. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the available methods.
- Prepare finished episodes and any interstitials or title cards you intend to include.
- Keep a record of the rights and permissions for music, sound effects, voices, artwork, and footage.
- Choose a playback and encoding arrangement that can remain active, and decide how you will detect a stopped feed.
- Test the complete path, including the archived video and audio, before relying on it as a continuous channel.
The official materials establish YouTube encoder support and the continuous-feed use case, but do not endorse a particular 24/7 playback application, hosting service, uptime level, duty-cycle rating, or failover design. Choose operational components based on your own requirements rather than treating one stack as officially recommended.
Check whether your channel can livestream
YouTube’s live-stream setup page says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction during the preceding 90 days. You must be at least 16 to livestream. Build a story feed viewers can recognize as original
A recurring stop-motion series can use a consistent look, characters, or presentation, but the episodes should not feel interchangeable. Give each story a distinct narrative, focus, or concept; meaningful variation helps viewers understand what is new from one installment to the next.
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live streams. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” policy as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is ineligible for monetization. Its guidance allows for similar serial content when each installment provides value and has a distinct storyline, focus, or concept. A template alone is not the issue; the concern is a channel whose episodes differ only minimally. Review the YouTube channel monetization policies when planning a monetized library.

Choose an encoder and delivery method
Use an encoder-based workflow to turn the prepared program into a live feed. Select settings according to your production resolution, frame rate, available upload capacity, and the delivery method supported by your encoder. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions rather than relying on values copied from an older guide; settings can depend on the format and quality you are sending.
RTMPS or HLS
YouTube documents HLS ingestion as an option for high-quality, higher-resolution delivery when relatively higher latency is acceptable. Its HLS guidance specifies supported media formats, playlist sequencing, segments, and transport requirements. HLS is not a universal best choice: confirm that your encoder supports YouTube’s required HLS workflow and that its latency characteristics fit your channel. Compare delivery options on format compatibility, picture-quality needs, latency tolerance, and the operational work required to keep the stream active. Read YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements.

For the selected protocol, follow the current YouTube settings page and the encoder’s instructions. Do not assume that a setting suitable for one resolution or workflow will work for another.
Start the continuous broadcast
- Prepare the program. Arrange the original stories and any transitions in the order you want them broadcast. Confirm the files play correctly and that their audio and visuals are cleared for use.
- Set up the live stream in YouTube Studio. Create or configure a live stream and use the stream key and ingestion details YouTube provides for the encoder. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it or include it in a shared screenshot.
- Configure the encoder. Enter YouTube’s current server and stream-key details, select the supported protocol and appropriate quality settings, and load the prepared program feed.
- Preview before going live. Check that the picture, sound, titles, and stream status are correct in YouTube Studio. Fix any ingest or playback errors before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the encoder and broadcast. Confirm that YouTube is receiving the feed and that the live video appears as expected.
- Monitor and verify the archive. Check the broadcast periodically and review the archived stream after it ends or is replaced. An unattended feed can still be interrupted, and the recording is subject to copyright review.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API guide explicitly describes a 24/7 live feed and explains that a creator can start a separate broadcast for an event while the continuous broadcast remains active. That demonstrates platform support for the continuous-feed concept, not a guarantee that any particular encoder, network, or service will stay online. Protect the channel from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live broadcasts for matches to third-party content, including another copyrighted live broadcast. A match can trigger a warning and replacement of the feed with a placeholder; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. If you have a license for material that triggers a match, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. An archived stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the live session ends. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
For an original stop-motion channel, clear more than the animation itself: check the soundtrack, effects, voice performances, illustrations, photographs, and any incorporated footage. Keep permission records accessible, and do not assume that a live broadcast avoids the rules that apply to recorded videos.

Understand monetization eligibility
Monetization is conditional, varies by location and feature, and is not automatic when a channel streams continuously. YouTube’s guide, accessed in 2026, lists the following thresholds; they are eligibility entry points for specified features, not a promise of approval or earnings. Other requirements, including policy and account conditions, also apply. Check YouTube’s current monetization guide before making plans, as requirements can change.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a livestream: check channel verification, age eligibility, and whether a live-streaming restriction occurred in the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s setup requirements.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: verify the selected ingestion method, current server details, stream key, and encoder compatibility. Recheck the current encoder guidance and, for HLS, the HLS format and transport requirements.
- The feed stops or disconnects: check whether the encoder, playback source, power, or network connection stopped; restore the feed and confirm in YouTube Studio that reception resumes. The API’s continuous-broadcast example does not provide a guarantee or a failover method.
- You see a copyright warning or placeholder: identify the matched element, remove it or resolve the rights issue, and consult YouTube’s live copyright guidance. If licensed content is being matched, ask the rights holder about the Content ID allowlist.
- The channel is not eligible for monetization: check the relevant feature threshold, location availability, and policy status in YouTube’s current monetization guidance. Repetitive episodes with little meaningful distinction can also raise an inauthentic-content issue.
