For an always-on YouTube stream, StreamNeo is the simplest cloud option: upload a video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live without keeping a computer running. Among the other services reviewed, Restream is the best-documented fit for playing a series of prerecorded videos as one stream. StreamYard is documented for scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, not for a continuously repeating playlist. These are different jobs, so confirm that a tool supports playlist looping—not just scheduling—before choosing it.
Choose a loop service, a scheduled broadcast, or a local encoder
“Schedule a prerecorded stream” can mean playing one uploaded video at a chosen time. “Loop a playlist” means playing a sequence of videos repeatedly or continuously. A tool that documents the first capability does not necessarily support the second.
The table compares the documented fit for each option. Capabilities attributed to Streamloop are its own product descriptions; they have not been independently tested here. “Not established” means the reviewed documentation does not confirm that capability.
| Option | Prerecorded playlist loop | Runs without your computer | Scheduling | Production controls or trade-offs | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Yes; 24/7 looping and playlists | Yes; runs in the cloud | Go live after uploading and adding the YouTube stream key | Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps; automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream | A YouTube-only always-on stream without a computer left running |
| Restream | Yes; its help material describes playing a series as one stream with Playlists, and its product page describes looping | Its help material says recorded videos can appear live while the creator is offline | Recorded videos can be scheduled | Reviewed material establishes playlist and scheduling features, but not a neutral reliability comparison | A well-documented third-party choice for scheduled video playlists |
| Streamloop | Its site describes continuous playlist streaming | Its site describes cloud operation without a computer left running | Its site describes scheduling and playlist order controls | Up to 4K/60fps is a vendor claim; output quality, uptime, and billing were not independently tested | A cloud-first candidate to evaluate against your format, plan, and workflow needs |
| StreamYard | Not established; reviewed guidance describes a single prerecorded-video workflow | Automatic prerecorded broadcasts can be scheduled; further continuous-loop behavior is not established | Yes, for a prerecorded broadcast at a selected time | MP4 with H.264 encoding; upload bitrate up to 10 Mbps; paid-plan output up to 1080p. Its automatic prerecorded workflow cannot show comments on-stream or control overlays and other media assets as a regular studio can. | A scheduled prerecorded broadcast where those studio-control limits are acceptable |
| Local encoder | Depends on the encoder and workflow; playlist automation is not established for every named encoder | No, if the encoder runs on your own computer | Depends on separate encoder and YouTube setup | YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders; YouTube’s general connection steps do not establish an unattended repeating-playlist feature for a particular encoder | Hands-on operation when you want local control and have verified the playlist workflow |
Best options for a continuous prerecorded stream
1. StreamNeo: cloud looping for YouTube

2. Restream: strongest documented third-party playlist match
Restream’s help material says creators can schedule recorded videos to appear live while offline and use Playlists to play a series of videos as one stream. Its prerecorded-video product page also describes queueing, scheduling, and looping. That makes it a closer documented match for a playlist loop than a tool whose documentation only describes scheduling one video.

Check current plan limits and the precise setup before committing to a long-running channel.

3. Streamloop: cloud-first candidate, with vendor claims to verify
Streamloop describes a cloud service for turning prerecorded playlists into continuous live streams, with scheduling and playlist-order controls. Its site advertises output up to 4K/60fps. These are vendor statements; uptime, output quality, and billing have not been independently established here. Verify that its supported inputs and plan terms fit your videos and expected run time.
4. StreamYard: better suited to a scheduled one-off
StreamYard documents automatically broadcasting a prerecorded video at a selected time. The reviewed help material specifies MP4 files encoded with H.264, an upload bitrate up to 10 Mbps, and output up to 1080p on paid plans. That documentation does not establish a repeating playlist loop. Choose it for a scheduled prerecorded broadcast only if its documented format and production-control limits suit your use.
5. Local software or hardware encoder: hands-on control
YouTube accepts software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. Its general workflow is to enter YouTube Live’s server URL and stream key in the encoder. A compatible encoder is not automatically a playlist scheduler: verify that your specific software, hardware, and configuration can repeat videos unattended before relying on it for continuous programming.
Connect an encoder to YouTube Live
If you choose a local encoder, YouTube’s general connection method is to configure it with the YouTube Live server URL and stream key. The exact controls vary by encoder, so use that product’s current documentation for where to enter them.

- Set up the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream and locate its server URL and stream key. YouTube’s interface can change, so follow the current on-screen guidance.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send video to your channel.
- Configure the video playlist separately. Confirm the encoder or its companion software can play the files in the intended order and repeat them unattended. General encoder compatibility with YouTube does not prove this feature exists.
- Start the encoder and check the live output. Confirm that the broadcast reaches YouTube and that the expected video and audio are present before leaving it unattended.
YouTube describes an encoder as software or standalone hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. Its help guidance also says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a stream expected to exceed that duration, check YouTube’s current long-stream guidance and plan how you want to handle the resulting replay.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check rights and channel suitability before looping
A stream key and a working encoder do not grant rights to the video or music. Before broadcasting, confirm you have permission for every video, soundtrack, image, and other material in the playlist, including any license terms relevant to livestreaming and replay. A continuous loop can repeatedly expose the same rights issue, so review the entire playlist rather than only its first item.
Also consider whether a long-running prerecorded stream fits your channel and audience. YouTube’s archive behavior matters if you expect a replay, and the reviewed information here does not establish a general rule that every prerecorded stream is eligible for monetization or will be treated identically by YouTube. Check current YouTube policies for your channel and content.

Cost and reliability questions to settle before choosing
Compare the recurring cost for the duration you need, any storage or usage limits, and whether the service supports your required resolution and playlist behavior. Current comparable total costs across the third-party services were not established here, and there is no neutral uptime or performance comparison for these options. Treat promotional language about quality or reliability as a vendor claim unless it is supported by evidence relevant to your use.
- Ask whether a playlist repeats continuously or simply plays once at a scheduled time.
- Check supported file types, resolution, bitrate, storage, maximum broadcast duration, and any plan restrictions in current product documentation.
- Confirm what happens after a disconnect: whether playback resumes automatically, whether the stream key must be reset, and whether the broadcast needs manual restarting.
- For local encoding, include the cost and practical burden of keeping the computer, software, and internet connection available for the full broadcast.
