To put a stationary logo over a looping video in OBS, add the video as a Media Source, turn on Loop, then add the logo as an Image Source above it in the same scene. Position and size the logo in the preview or with Edit Transform, then test the scene and stream settings before going live.
Set up a looping video and logo in one OBS scene
1. Create or select a scene
In OBS, select an existing scene or create one for the loop. A scene combines sources, so the video and logo can be managed together. OBS’s Sources Guide documents image and media sources and how they are layered.
2. Add the video loop
- In the Sources dock, select the add-source control and choose Media Source.
- Name the source if useful, then select the local video file.
- Enable Loop in the source properties. This restarts playback when the file reaches its end.
- Confirm the video appears in the preview and fits the scene as intended.
OBS lists MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM among the supported media formats in its Media Sources guide. If a file will not play, check its format and that the path still points to an available local file.
3. Add the logo image
- Use the Sources add control and choose Image Source.
- Select the logo artwork. A transparent PNG is a practical option when the logo should sit over the video without a solid rectangular background.
- Make sure the source is visible using its eye icon.
4. Put the logo in front of the video
In the Sources list, drag the logo source above the Media Source. OBS displays sources higher in the list over sources below them; if the video covers the logo, source order is the first thing to check.

5. Position and size the overlay
Select the logo and drag its bounding box in the preview for quick placement. For exact placement, use Edit → Transform → Edit Transform; the shortcut is Ctrl-E on Windows or Cmd-E on macOS. OBS also provides Fit to Screen, Stretch to Screen, and Center to Screen transforms. Avoid stretching a logo out of proportion. To crop a source by dragging a bounding-box handle, hold Alt on Windows or Linux, or Option on macOS, while dragging.
Use a playlist instead of repeating one clip
For a sequence of clips, use OBS’s VLC Video Source rather than expecting the ordinary Media Source to provide playlist controls. Install VLC for the source to be available; OBS specifies 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. Add the files to the VLC source playlist and leave Loop Playlist enabled if the playlist should restart after its final item. OBS documents this option as enabled by default. See the OBS Media Sources guide.

| VLC Video Source | A playlist of multiple clips | Loop Playlist | VLC must be installed; use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS |
Test the scene and stream before going live
Check the OBS preview for the intended composition: the video is moving, the logo is visible and above it, and the logo is not clipped or distorted. Make a brief test recording or test stream to catch configuration or performance issues. OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends testing settings before streaming, and its Overview Guide covers configuring a streaming service and key. Follow OBS’s current workflow for connecting the service and stream key.
These OBS steps explain how to compose and test the scene; they do not establish whether a particular YouTube account is eligible to go live. Check YouTube’s current Live guidance for account eligibility and platform requirements.

Troubleshoot common overlay and looping problems
- The logo is hidden behind the video: move the Image Source above the Media Source in the Sources list and confirm its eye icon is enabled.
- The video stops at the end: open Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a clip playlist, use VLC Video Source and check Loop Playlist.
- VLC Video Source is missing: install VLC; if OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC.
- The logo is too large, clipped, or distorted: select it and adjust its bounding box or Edit Transform values. Avoid Stretch to Screen if it changes the logo’s proportions.
- OBS is struggling to render the scene: simplify sources and filters where practical. OBS’s encoding performance troubleshooting guide notes that sources and filters use resources and points to an Image Source for a static image rather than a more complex browser overlay.
