To broadcast a Hindi online radio station from an Android phone, route the station’s audio into an Android encoder app, then send that app’s stream URL and key to a YouTube Live broadcast. You’ll also need a visual, such as a station logo or program card. Before going live, confirm that the station has the rights to simulcast and archive its programming on YouTube; music-rights checks can interrupt a stream even when the station has a license.
Choose an encoder workflow—not just the YouTube app
YouTube’s Android mobile-live flow is camera-oriented. It is not a dependable way to relay audio playing in a separate radio app: YouTube’s mobile requirements include a camera, microphone, and hardware audio/video encoding, and the documentation does not establish direct capture of another app’s playback. For a radio feed, the clearest documented workflow is to create a YouTube Live broadcast and send it from an Android encoder configured with the station’s audio. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains how to enter the server URL and stream key; its encoder list includes Android-capable options such as PRISM Live Studio, Larix Broadcaster, and Streamlabs. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
For a radio-style visual, use station artwork or a program card showing the station or show name, host, and current segment. This is practical presentation guidance, not a stated YouTube requirement. Your audience will hear the program while the visual gives the live page a clear identity.
Check channel eligibility and rights first
YouTube access from Android
YouTube Help’s Android mobile-live requirements, checked on October 3, 2026, list at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, live streaming enabled, no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and Android 8.0 or later. A first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available. YouTube may limit the mobile-live audience for channels below 1,000 subscribers and set their archives to private by default. These are platform rules that may change, so check YouTube’s current mobile-live requirements before relying on them.

Those figures concern YouTube’s mobile-live feature. An encoder is a separate streaming method with its own server URL and stream key workflow; using one does not exempt your channel from YouTube’s general live-stream policies or rights obligations.
Music and broadcast rights
Do not assume that permission to operate an online radio station also permits simulcasting its programs on YouTube. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to hold the rights needed for both live and archived material in the relevant territories. That may involve permissions from artists, labels, publishers, and other rights participants, as well as any applicable broadcast licensing, registration, consent, or notification requirements in the stream territory. Review YouTube’s terms and confirm the scope of the station’s permissions with the relevant rights holders before testing publicly.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may replace the live image with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even with a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruption. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream content and its Content ID allowlist information. Resolve allowlisting with the rights owner before broadcast if it applies to your programming.
Set up the broadcast from your phone
- Confirm access. Check that the channel can live stream and, if you plan to use YouTube’s mobile-live feature, meets the current eligibility rules. Allow for the possible first-stream activation wait.
- Clear the rights. Confirm YouTube live and archive rights for the station’s programming in the relevant territories. Ask rights holders whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting.
- Create the YouTube Live event. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its server URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share or display it.
- Install and configure an Android encoder. Choose an app listed by YouTube, such as PRISM Live Studio, Larix Broadcaster, or Streamlabs, and enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in the app’s streaming settings. YouTube’s list is not a controlled comparison of picture or sound quality, so select based on the settings and audio routing your station needs.
- Choose the visual. Set station artwork or a program card in the encoder. Make sure the image is appropriate to keep on screen for the duration of the broadcast.
- Route the station audio. Select the encoder’s audio source and confirm the station feed reaches it. If the output comes from a separate mixer or player, connect a compatible audio interface to the phone and choose the corresponding input in the app. YouTube describes connecting external audio hardware to an encoder, and Streamlabs lists external audio channels among its mobile audio settings. Compatibility depends on the exact phone, Android version, app, connector, and source output; the documentation does not validate a particular device combination. See YouTube’s encoder audio guidance and Streamlabs’ mobile audio settings guidance.
- Run a private or unlisted check where available. Start a test and listen to the returned stream from a second device. Check that the picture is present, the station audio is audible and at a suitable level, and the connection holds. This is a recommended operational check, not a guarantee of rights clearance or future stream stability.
- Go live and monitor. Start the encoder broadcast and verify the YouTube Live event is receiving it. Keep an eye on the phone, audio routing, and YouTube status while the program is on air.
Choose an encoder and plan for audio routing
YouTube lists PRISM Live Studio, Larix Broadcaster, and Streamlabs among encoder options that can be used from Android. The available documentation does not establish a controlled quality winner among them. Compare the settings that matter to your setup:

- YouTube support: confirm the current app version supports your Android device and the YouTube encoder workflow.
- External audio: check that the app can select the input you intend to use, especially when the station output comes from a mixer or player.
- Audio controls: check which level and sample-rate controls the app exposes and whether they suit the source.
- Background operation: if you need to manage another app during the broadcast, test the behavior on the actual phone. PRISM documents an Android background-broadcast option after enabling “Allow display over other apps”; verify that setting in the current app before relying on it. See PRISM’s mobile settings guidance.
- End-to-end complexity: test the entire path from the station output through any interface and phone connector to the encoder. An app’s feature list alone does not show that your particular hardware combination will work.
Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: check verification, live-stream activation, restrictions, Android version, and the current eligibility rules. The first mobile broadcast may require an activation wait.
- The stream is live but silent: confirm that the encoder selected the correct input, the interface is connected and recognized, and the mixer or player is sending audio at a usable level. Do not assume the encoder can capture playback from a separate radio app.
- The phone’s built-in microphone is heard instead of the station: change the encoder’s selected source to the intended interface or audio input, then retest from a second device.
- The audio cuts out when switching apps: test background behavior on the phone and check the encoder’s background-broadcast settings. PRISM documents enabling “Allow display over other apps” for its Android background-broadcast option, but behavior can depend on the device and current app version.
- YouTube shows a placeholder, interrupts, or ends the stream: investigate a third-party-content match. Confirm that the station’s YouTube rights cover the live and archived use, and ask the rights owner whether Content ID allowlisting is required.
- The encoder cannot connect: verify that the server URL and stream key belong to the intended YouTube Live event, that the key was entered correctly, and that the phone has a working internet connection. Keep the key private; replace it in YouTube Studio if it has been exposed.
- The image is blank or unhelpful: confirm that the encoder is sending the selected station artwork or program card, rather than assuming an audio-only radio feed will provide a suitable YouTube picture.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your Hindi station’s YouTube presence needs to keep playing uploaded recordings around the clock, StreamNeo is an alternative to leaving an Android phone and audio setup running. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not go live from a camera or stream to platforms other than YouTube.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs in the cloud, so your phone or computer can be off.
- Every slot streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encoding or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card; one free day is available per account.
Monthly pricing: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for the service details, then start the free first day.
