How to Keep Song Titles Visible in a 24/7 Hindi Music YouTube Live Stream

A metadata-driven overlay can show the current Hindi song title, but it depends on correct track tags and a compatible playback source. Learn how to set it up and test it for a continuous YouTube stream.

To show viewers which Hindi song is playing, add a metadata-driven “now playing” overlay to the video before it reaches YouTube. In OBS, that usually means connecting an overlay to a player or source that exposes the current track information. YouTube’s event title and description serve a different purpose: they describe the live event and do not, by themselves, update on screen at every song change.

Choose an overlay that can read your playback source

The label updates only if the playback system supplies current track information and the overlay can read it. Check the connection with the exact player, operating system, and OBS version you plan to use; a tool that supports one source may not support another.

OBS with a source-aware plugin

The Tuna listing describes displaying track information from supported sources, including VLC, MPD, and Spotify. Check the listing for current compatibility with your installed OBS version and operating system. For synchronized lyrics, the source also needs to provide current playback progress; a title-and-artist label alone does not supply lyric timing.

VLC metadata exported to a text file

A community OBS resource describes a monitor that reads ID3 metadata from an OBS VLC video source and can save current song information to a text file. Add that file as an OBS text source, then verify that it refreshes when the VLC source changes tracks. Correct file tags and the specific VLC/OBS arrangement matter; do not assume the monitor will work with every setup.

Browser or other player integration

If playback comes from a browser or dedicated music player, use an overlay that explicitly supports that source and reads its current track data. Some web players do not expose title or artist information, so confirm that the fields are available before designing a scene around them.

Hosted playout with a now-playing element

A hosted playout vendor documents a now-playing element that updates as its playlist changes using file metadata. This is an alternative workflow for operators who prefer hosted playout, but capabilities, service terms, reliability, and pricing vary and should be checked directly with the provider.

Prepare Hindi track metadata and the on-screen label

  1. Check the audio files’ tags. Make sure each track has the title and artist fields you intend to show. Missing or inconsistent metadata can result in blank, malformed, or incorrect text.
  2. Choose a compact format. “Title — Artist” is a useful starting point. Decide what the overlay should display when one of those fields is missing, rather than leaving viewers with a broken-looking label.
  3. Use a font with Devanagari glyphs. Preview actual Hindi titles, not just English sample text. A font without the required characters can show boxes or otherwise render the label incorrectly.
  4. Check long titles at the output size. Preview the label at the resolution viewers will receive. If it does not fit, adjust the layout or use scrolling text that remains legible; avoid shrinking it until it is difficult to read.
  5. Confirm changes at track transitions. Watch for a stale title, a blank interval, or the next track’s information appearing too early. The metadata reader, not merely the visual text source, must update correctly.

Keep event metadata separate from the changing song label

In YouTube Studio, set useful event information such as the live title and description, and configure the encoder with the event’s stream key. Those fields identify the broadcast; the changing song title belongs in the encoder’s video composition. The cited YouTube guidance describes stream metadata and encoder setup, but does not establish that editing an event title creates a synchronized per-track overlay.

Test the full chain before leaving it unattended

  1. Run a representative test. Play a selection of tracks with audio and video, including Hindi titles, long titles, and files with missing fields.
  2. Watch several transitions. Confirm that the label changes with the music and that its fallback works when a title or artist is absent.
  3. Check Hindi rendering and legibility. Inspect Devanagari characters and long strings at the actual output resolution.
  4. Test recovery deliberately. During a controlled test, restart the playback app and encoder. Confirm that the metadata connection returns and updates rather than remaining blank or stuck.
  5. Inspect the viewer’s experience. Check the Live Control Room preview and the watch page, including on a phone. Confirm that the label is visible without covering important video content.
  6. Monitor the whole path during operation. The playlist, metadata reader, OBS scene, encoder, network, and YouTube playback are separate links in the chain. An overlay does not make the stream reliable by itself.

YouTube’s operational guidance recommends testing, checking the Live Control Room preview, viewing the watch page on mobile, and monitoring stream quality. It does not certify a particular now-playing plugin for continuous operation.

Protect music rights before streaming

A visible song title is not permission to broadcast the song. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed for live content, including applicable music rights. Confirm that your permissions cover the intended use and territories.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material that remains in the stream, it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate it. The platform also says that licensed third-party content may still be interrupted unless the rights holder has added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Resolve any required allowlisting with the relevant rights holder before relying on a track in a continuous broadcast.

Or let it run in the cloud

For a 24/7 Hindi music broadcast built from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It keeps the uploaded video stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. It does not go live from a camera, and its documented features do not establish that it creates a changing now-playing overlay from track metadata. If each song title must appear on screen, prepare that label in the video or confirm a compatible overlay workflow separately.
