To find why a 24/7 Indian music YouTube playlist goes silent, check the same moment at each stage: the song file, the encoder’s audio meter and monitoring, a local recording, and YouTube’s stream-health messages. A track that sounds fine on your computer may still be muted or missing from the stream mix. First establish whether silence affects one file or the entire broadcast; that distinction points to the right fix.
First determine whether the silence is in one track or the whole stream
- Note the time. Record when you hear the silence and preserve the affected file and timestamp. This makes it possible to compare the same passage at every stage.
- Check the scope. Does the silence recur with one song, or does it affect multiple songs and sources? Repeatable silence at the same point in one file suggests a file-level issue. Silence across different files suggests checking the encoder mix or incoming stream.
- Watch the encoder’s audio meter. If the meter stays still while the suspect song plays, audio may not be reaching the mixer. If it moves, audio is reaching that meter, but you still need to listen to the monitored output and check a recording.
How to find quiet sections inside a playlist file
Listen to the file directly
Open the suspect song in a media player and listen around the recorded timestamp. A quiet introduction, a pause between verses, or a sparse passage may be intentional. Treat a quiet section as a fault only after checking what the music is meant to sound like.
Scan with FFmpeg’s silence detector
FFmpeg’s silencedetect filter can log sections below a chosen audio-level threshold. For example:

Replace silence.mp3 with the actual file name. The filter reports spans at or below the selected noise tolerance for its selected minimum duration. The example uses an explicit noise tolerance; choose settings appropriate to the recording rather than treating that example as a universal standard. Sparse music and intended pauses can be flagged. Review each reported span by listening before editing or replacing a file.
Trace audio through OBS
If OBS is the encoder in use, check its mixer while the affected file plays. OBS’s Audio Mixer Guide explains its meters and controls and recommends checking sound early, then again when it reaches OBS.

- Confirm the intended media or audio source is playing.
- Check that the source is not muted and that it is routed to the stream’s audio output.
- Watch the source’s meter during the affected passage. A motionless meter indicates the signal is not reaching that mixer channel.
- Listen at the playback device if available, then use OBS Audio Monitoring to hear the monitored mix.
A moving meter shows activity at that point in OBS; it does not by itself establish that viewers can hear the stream. Record a short local sample and listen back before going live, as OBS recommends. Compare the sample with the monitored output and the file.
Compare the recording, encoder output, and YouTube stream
When the file plays correctly and OBS shows audio, check what was actually recorded and what YouTube received. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance advises checking encoder sound and errors, considering CPU load, and reviewing a local archive for audio or video problems.

- Listen to the local recording or archive at the exact silent timestamp.
- Compare it with the encoder preview or monitored output.
- Compare both with the public YouTube stream at the same point, allowing for any delay between the encoder and viewer playback.
- Use the first stage where the sound disappears to focus the fix: source file, OBS mix, encoded output, or YouTube ingestion.
If the local archive contains the silence, investigate the source or encoder output. If the archive and encoder output have sound but the YouTube stream does not, inspect Live Control Room’s timestamped health messages and the stream configuration.
Read YouTube’s stream-health messages
The YouTube live-stream error messages page describes errors in the stream being sent to YouTube. Match the error timestamp to the affected passage instead of assuming the playlist file is at fault. YouTube’s “Incorrect stream format” guidance specifies H.264 video and AAC audio for proper ingestion; its error reference also identifies an unsupported audio codec. The Live-stream API health-status reference includes an unsupported-codec configuration issue and a noAudioStream state.

If YouTube reports an audio-format or missing-audio issue, check the encoder’s outgoing configuration and the message details. Do not infer that the source file is silent solely from a platform health warning; the warning concerns the incoming stream.

A broadcast that is interrupted or replaced is different from a track whose file contains silence. YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content; a placeholder can replace a stream when content is identified, and the broadcast may be temporarily interrupted or terminated if the content remains. Even licensed content can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel through Content ID. If the whole broadcast stops, check YouTube Studio for strikes and review YouTube’s copyright guidance.

Fix the problem at the stage where audio disappears
- Only one file has the quiet passage: listen to the file and review FFmpeg’s detected spans. If the quiet is unintended, correct or replace that media file in the playlist.
- The file sounds normal but its OBS meter does not move: confirm the right source is playing, unmuted, and routed to the stream mix.
- The meter moves but monitoring or a local recording is silent: check the monitored mix and audio output routing; use the recording to verify what the encoder actually captured.
- The local recording has sound but YouTube does not: match the silence time to Live Control Room messages and inspect the outgoing stream’s audio format and health status.
- The broadcast itself is interrupted: check YouTube Studio and copyright status rather than treating it as an ordinary silent-file problem.
