YouTube’s guidance documents event scheduling and encoder setup; it does not establish that OBS has a built-in scheduler for launching playlists and automatically switching between channel keys. Treat those as separate tasks, and verify any automation before relying on it.
What you can schedule—and where
A scheduled YouTube livestream is an event created in the relevant channel’s Live Control Room. It can have an upcoming-stream page, a shareable URL, and viewer reminders. OBS is the encoder that sends video and audio to that event; its playlist playback is a separate operation.
YouTube Studio also lets you schedule publication of an uploaded video, but that is not the same as scheduling an OBS playlist broadcast. A scheduled upload becomes public at a selected time; a scheduled livestream event accepts an encoder feed. See YouTube’s instructions for scheduling video publication and its encoder livestream setup guide.
Check each channel’s livestream eligibility
Before building the schedule, confirm that every channel you plan to use is verified and has no livestream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live activation may take at least 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of your first event. Check each channel separately in YouTube Studio; eligibility on one channel does not establish eligibility on another. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

Schedule an event for each channel
-
Sign in to YouTube Studio for the channel that will host the first stream.
-
Open Create > Go Live > Manage, then schedule an encoder stream. You can create a new event or reuse settings from a previous event, as described in YouTube’s encoder instructions.
-
Record the event’s scheduled date and time, title, visibility, and channel so you can match them to the correct OBS output later. Repeat the process in each other channel’s Studio. Each channel needs its own scheduled event.

Connect OBS to the intended event
-
Open OBS and go to Settings > Stream. Choose the YouTube service if using the service integration, then enter or select the credentials associated with the event. If configuring a custom destination, use the event’s YouTube server URL and stream key.
-
Before starting output, verify the selected channel and event against your schedule. YouTube’s encoder setup instruction is to enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. A key for the wrong channel or event can send the feed somewhere other than intended.

Load the intended playlist in OBS separately. Confirm the media order and that playback behaves as you expect; YouTube event scheduling does not schedule or control OBS media playback.
-
Start the encoder when appropriate and check the Live Control Room preview before the event begins. The preview helps confirm that the event is receiving the intended picture and sound.

YouTube’s cited instructions do not document a native OBS feature that schedules playlist playback and automatically switches among multiple channels’ stream keys. Do not assume one OBS installation will perform unattended channel changes just because events have been scheduled in Studio. If you use an OBS script, plugin, external scheduler, or separate scene/profile workflow to automate changes, establish its current behavior independently and test it with the specific channels, keys, and event timing you intend to use.

Preflight the stream and avoid concurrency limits
-
Build in lead time. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder stream at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
-
Check the preview and access. Confirm the Live Control Room preview is correct, verify the event’s accessibility settings, and monitor audio and video quality before and during the stream. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
-
Respect simultaneous-stream limits. YouTube documents a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; both limits apply at once. If events overlap, count active streams for each channel and each key rather than assuming separate scheduled events can all run simultaneously. See YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming limits.

Troubleshoot common scheduling and connection problems
The channel cannot go live
Check verification status and whether the channel has had a livestream restriction in the previous 90 days. If live streaming has only just been enabled for the first time, activation may take at least 24 hours.
OBS connects to the wrong event or channel
Stop output and compare the event’s channel, stream URL, and key with the entry configured in OBS. Replace any mismatched credential with the correct event details, then confirm the destination in Live Control Room before resuming.
The scheduled event is waiting for a feed
Confirm that OBS output is started and that the correct server URL and key are entered. Check whether the Live Control Room receives a preview; do not treat the event’s scheduled time as a substitute for starting the encoder.
The playlist does not start at the scheduled time
YouTube’s scheduled event does not itself launch media playback in OBS. Start the playlist separately or use an automation method whose behavior you have verified. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish an OBS-native cross-channel playlist scheduler.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA stream fails when another event is running
Check the number of active streams on the channel and on the specific key. The documented ceilings—10 per channel and 3 per key—apply simultaneously, so exceeding either may be the issue.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a prerecorded YouTube stream that loops continuously, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the stream running without leaving a computer or home connection on, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
