The chat replay shows messages from the live broadcast; it does not turn them into new purchases. YouTube’s guidance supports this distinction, though it does not state a replay-specific accounting rule in those exact terms.
What a Super Chat in a replay represents
YouTube’s live chat replay displays the conversation as it appeared during the original livestream. After the stream ends, live chat is unavailable, so a viewer watching an ordinary archive cannot send a new Super Chat through that archived chat. A paid message shown beside the replay is therefore evidence of an earlier chat event, not a new purchase by the replay viewer. When the purchase counts toward creator revenue
YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google. Its published calculation is after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube says it covers transaction costs such as credit-card fees. That share applies to confirmed revenue, so a message visible in a replay should not be treated by itself as proof that a particular payment was confirmed or payable. Check the creator’s own reporting and account terms for the applicable record. YouTube Help: Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat
Where to check the revenue record
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Analytics.
- Open the Revenue tab.
- Look under How you make money for Supers reporting.
- For the revenue-share terms that apply to your account, review the agreements in Studio. YouTube’s general published guidance does not replace the individual agreement. YouTube Help: YouTube partner earnings overview
Deleting the message does not reverse the payment
Removing a Super Chat message after the broadcast does not itself refund the buyer or erase the underlying transaction. YouTube’s moderation guidance states: “Deleting a Super Chat message post-live stream will not result in a refund.” YouTube Help: Moderate live chat

Eligibility still matters
Supers are fan-funding features, and earning from them requires the Commerce Product Module and the individual features to be turned on for the channel. A replay cannot make a channel or transaction eligible retroactively. Check the channel’s monetization setup and its Studio agreements if a payment or revenue report is missing. StreamNeo is a separate cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live on YouTube; it does not change YouTube’s Super Chat accounting or make replay viewers able to send new Supers. If you operate that kind of channel, StreamNeo lets you upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live while the service loops it in the cloud.
