For a stereo Hindi sleep-sounds stream on YouTube Live, set OBS’s streaming audio bitrate to 128 kbps. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends that rate for stereo audio, regardless of language or how long the stream runs. In OBS, find the control under Settings → Output.
Set the streaming audio bitrate in OBS
- Open Settings. In OBS Studio, select Settings, then Output.
- Locate the streaming audio bitrate. In Simple output mode, the audio bitrate control is available in Output settings. If you use Advanced output mode, OBS provides more control over stream and recording settings; adjust the streaming audio setting rather than a recording-only setting.
- Choose 128 kbps for YouTube stereo. This follows YouTube’s published encoder recommendation for stereo live audio. The same guidance lists a 44.1 kHz sample rate for stereo.
- Apply the settings and test. Test with audio representative of the planned broadcast before starting the continuous stream, then watch YouTube’s stream health while live.
OBS gives a general streaming rule of thumb of around 160 kbps, or lower if upload speed is limited. That is broad guidance; for a YouTube stereo stream, use YouTube’s more specific recommendation. If your destination is not YouTube, check that platform’s current encoder limits and guidance before choosing a bitrate. Choose the setting for your audio format

The 5.1 figure is not an upgrade to apply to stereo audio. Set the bitrate to match the channel format you are actually sending. These are YouTube platform recommendations; the retrieved guidance does not state a publication year.
What changes—and does not change—for a 24/7 Hindi stream
Hindi is not a bitrate setting. The recommendation depends on the destination and whether the audio is stereo or 5.1, not the language of narration, music, chants, or ambient sound. The reviewed OBS and YouTube guidance does not specify a separate audio bitrate for 24/7 broadcasts, so stream duration alone is not a reason to raise or lower the setting.

For a continuous sleep-sounds program, check the actual audio chain and test a representative section: quiet passages, transitions, and any voice or music should all be included. The official guidance supports testing before going live and monitoring stream health; it does not establish a particular bitrate as a guarantee of sound quality or uninterrupted operation.
Check connection stability without changing the audio setting unnecessarily
If the stream drops frames, investigate the connection to YouTube rather than assuming the audio bitrate is wrong. OBS says dropped frames can mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. Its troubleshooting guidance recommends considering a wired connection when Wi-Fi is unstable. - Test the stream and monitor YouTube’s stream health before relying on it for continuous playback.
- If Wi-Fi is unstable, try a wired Ethernet connection and check whether the connection remains steady.
- When troubleshooting dropped frames, distinguish video bandwidth problems from audio-format settings; change the setting that corresponds to the observed issue.
