For identical loops, YouTube’s Live Streaming API supports sending one incoming stream to multiple broadcasts, so the PC needs to produce one encoded feed. For different loops, configure a separate stream and output for each broadcast, then verify that the PC can encode both and that your upload connection can sustain their combined bitrate.
First decide whether the loops are identical
“Two loops” can mean either two broadcast pages showing the same video or two broadcasts showing different videos. That distinction determines whether one encoder output is enough.
- Same video on both broadcasts: YouTube documents an API workflow in which one incoming live stream can be bound to multiple broadcasts. Both broadcasts receive the same incoming content. This approach is documented for the Live Streaming API; the available sources do not establish a standard YouTube Studio button or UI workflow for sharing a stream. YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
- Different video on each broadcast: Set up a distinct YouTube stream resource for each broadcast and send each the intended feed. A single shared stream cannot carry two different loop videos at once. The API guide describes separate streams when simultaneous broadcasts need distinct settings. YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
Even with identical video, use separate broadcasts only if you need separate broadcast pages. If the broadcasts require different video, audio, or stream settings, treat them as independent outputs.
Set YouTube’s recommended 4K60 encoder settings
YouTube’s current guidance supports 4K/2160p at up to 60 fps and recommends the following ingest settings. The bitrate figures are per stream, not for the pair.

| Setting | AV1 or H.265 (HEVC) | H.264 |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution and frame rate | 4K / 2160p at 60 fps | 4K / 2160p at 60 fps |
| Recommended video bitrate | 35 Mbps per stream | 50 Mbps per stream |
| Minimum video bitrate | 10 Mbps per stream | 14 Mbps per stream |
| Rate control | CBR | CBR |
| Keyframe frequency | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds | 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds |
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS |
| Audio | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps stereo recommended | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps stereo recommended |
These settings come from YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance. Its minimum bitrate is a floor, not a recommended quality target. YouTube says to choose a quality your connection can reliably sustain, test with representative audio and motion, and monitor stream health.
Allow upload headroom for two separate feeds
If the streams are independent and both use YouTube’s recommended bitrate, the video portions add up to about 70 Mbps for AV1/HEVC or 100 Mbps for H.264. Those totals are arithmetic based on YouTube’s per-stream recommendations, not a separate YouTube recommendation. Allow additional practical headroom for audio and normal network variation. Measure sustained upload performance rather than relying only on a plan’s advertised speed. If your connection cannot reliably sustain the chosen total, lower the targets or reconsider sending both feeds through that connection.
For one shared feed, you send one encoded video stream, so do not double the video bitrate merely because it is bound to two broadcasts. Your actual configuration still needs to meet YouTube’s ingest requirements.

Understand what 4K delivery does—and does not—mean
YouTube transcodes incoming live video into different formats for viewers; you still need to deliver a stable feed at your chosen source resolution and frame rate. At 4K/2160p, YouTube says low-latency optimization is unavailable, so the stream uses normal latency. See YouTube’s encoder settings and latency guidance.

For two broadcasts showing the same loop
- Create the two broadcast resources and one incoming live stream using YouTube’s Live Streaming API workflow.
- Bind both broadcasts to that same incoming stream. YouTube’s API example describes this shared-stream pattern for a continuous feed and another broadcast carrying a subset of it. Confirm that the binding and broadcast states are valid in your workflow before starting.
- Configure the encoder to send one output to the stream’s ingest destination using the stream’s key and your selected settings: 2160p at 60 fps, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, an appropriate codec and bitrate, and RTMPS where available.
- Start the encoder output and confirm that both broadcasts receive the same content. Do not expect this architecture to create different video or audio for each broadcast.
The API documentation establishes the shared incoming-stream architecture, not a particular YouTube Studio interface or the availability of a specific account-level workflow. Read the Live Streaming API guide.
For two broadcasts showing different loops
- Create a separate YouTube stream resource for each broadcast, with its own ingest configuration and stream key.
- In your encoder or production setup, provide the intended loop to each output. Each output must remain live and use the settings appropriate to its stream.
- Set the two output bitrates based on your codec choice and measured connection capacity. At YouTube’s recommended 4K60 rates, plan for the combined video bitrate plus headroom.
- Run both outputs together for a representative test. Check for encoding overload, dropped frames, bitrate instability, and correct audio and video on both broadcasts.
This separate-stream design follows YouTube’s API guidance for simultaneous broadcasts with distinct settings. The requirement to play, encode, and transmit two outputs is an operational consequence of running two independent feeds. YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.

Check whether your PC can sustain the workload
There is no universal CPU, GPU, or RAM minimum for this setup. Capacity depends on whether the outputs are identical or different, the codec, the loop sources, the encoder, and what else the PC is doing. A shared encoded feed requires one encode; two different live outputs may require additional encoding capacity.
- For two distinct feeds, hardware encoding can be a practical starting point if your system supports it, but verify that your specific encoder and GPU sustain both outputs at the intended settings.
- Encoder capabilities vary by GPU model. NVIDIA’s January 30, 2025 guide notes that some then-current GPUs have dual or triple encoders; that capability should not be assumed for every GPU, nor does it mean every two-output setup needs two separate encoder blocks. Check the support for your exact model and workload. NVIDIA’s broadcasting guide.
- OBS recommends its Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point for basic settings. Its help explains that the stream connects from your computer directly to the streaming service; OBS does not relay the stream through its own servers. OBS streaming guidance.
A configuration that works for a short test may still fail under sustained load. Test both outputs together for long enough to observe encoder overload, dropped frames, and connection stability.
Test the complete setup before scheduling a loop
- Run a private, unlisted, or otherwise appropriate test broadcast using the same two-output arrangement you intend to use live.
- Use representative motion and audio from the actual loops. YouTube explicitly recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health. YouTube encoder guidance.
- Check that each broadcast receives the intended video and audio, the source is 2160p at 60 fps, and the outgoing bitrate stays stable.
- Review YouTube’s stream health indicators and your encoder’s performance statistics while the test runs. YouTube’s health documentation includes warnings such as low bitrate, frame-rate mismatch, missing audio, and video ingestion starvation. YouTube stream health monitoring.
- Fix any warnings and repeat the test before relying on the setup for a scheduled or unattended loop.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely area to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Low bitrate or unstable stream health | Upload capacity, bitrate setting, or network variation | Check the sustained upload path and encoder output. Reduce the target bitrate or run fewer independent outputs if the connection cannot sustain the combined load. |
| Frame-rate mismatch | Encoder output settings or source frame rate | Confirm the output is configured for 60 fps and verify that the source and encoder can maintain it under load. |
| Missing audio | Audio routing, track selection, or encoder configuration | Check the selected audio source and track for each output, then test again with representative audio. |
| Video ingestion starvation | Encoder or connection is not delivering frames consistently | Inspect encoder overload and dropped-frame statistics, then check the direct connection from the PC to YouTube and the local upload path. Test again after changing one variable at a time. |
| One broadcast gets the wrong content | Shared stream used where feeds need to differ, or output-to-broadcast mapping is incorrect | Use separate stream resources and route each intended loop to its own output when the content must differ. |
YouTube’s listed health warnings are documented examples, not a complete diagnosis for every setup. Check YouTube’s health monitoring guidance.
