To loop a prerecorded bhajan on YouTube Live, add the video as an OBS Media Source, enable its loop option, connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, then send the feed and check stream health. For 4K at 60 fps, choose encoder settings by codec: YouTube recommends 35 Mbps for AV1 or H.265/HEVC and 50 Mbps for H.264. A devotional subject does not automatically make a recording free to stream; confirm the rights for the specific music and video before going live.
Before you start
- A local video file containing the bhajan and any visuals you plan to broadcast.
- OBS installed on a computer capable of decoding the source and encoding a 3840 Ă— 2160, 60 fps stream. The source file, computer and connection all need to sustain the chosen output.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable access ahead of your planned broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- A reliable upload connection. Run a speed test and choose settings that your connection can sustain; the bitrate sent to YouTube uses upload capacity continuously while live.
- Permission for the actual composition, lyrics or translation, arrangement, recording and video as applicable, including the livestream and any archive. Rights depend on the material and jurisdiction.
Set up the YouTube Live event
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Select the intended privacy and archive options there; YouTube supports public, private and unlisted streams, and stream settings can be reused.
- Open the stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter them in OBS’s YouTube streaming configuration. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio. Details are in YouTube’s stream-key management guidance.
Add and loop the bhajan video in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene, choose the local video file and enable the source’s loop behavior in its properties. The precise label may vary by OBS version; check the installed Media Source properties. This loops the source being sent by OBS, not a viewer’s YouTube playback.
- Arrange the scene to fit the video to the canvas. If you intend to broadcast 4K, set the output resolution to 3840 Ă— 2160 and the frame rate to 60 fps only when the source, encoder hardware and upload connection can sustain them. A lower-resolution source does not gain detail merely by being output at 4K.
- Check the loop point and audio continuity by letting the source run through a full repeat. Confirm the video does not flash, pause unexpectedly or leave silence at the seam. Test with representative motion and sound rather than a still frame alone.
Choose 4K/60 encoder settings
YouTube’s current encoder recommendations distinguish codec and bitrate. The figures below are YouTube Help’s recommendations for 2160p (4K) at 60 fps, accessed in 2026; they are ingest targets, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can maintain the stream.
| Encoder codec | Recommended bitrate | Minimum bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 35 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
| H.264 | 50 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
Use a codec your OBS encoder and hardware support. Neither choice is universally best: YouTube’s recommended 4K/60 bitrate is lower for AV1 or H.265 than for H.264, but practical reliability depends on your encoder and sustained upload capacity. YouTube recommends CBR bitrate encoding and a 2-second keyframe interval, with a maximum interval of 4 seconds. It recommends RTMPS; its supported ingest protocols include RTMP/RTMPS.
- Video: select 3840 Ă— 2160 output and 60 fps only if your source and system can keep up. Choose AV1, H.265/HEVC or H.264 as supported by your encoder, then use the corresponding bitrate recommendation above. Set CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval.
- Audio: YouTube lists AAC or MP3 for stereo, recommends 128 Kbps, and lists a 44.1 kHz sample rate. Check that OBS is sending the intended audio source and that levels are audible without clipping.
- Color: for SDR, YouTube’s advanced settings guidance specifies Rec. 709 and 8-bit.
- Resolution detection: YouTube automatically detects encoder settings by default. Manual resolution selection uses a custom stream key with manual settings enabled; consult YouTube’s encoder settings for the applicable configuration.
YouTube says 4K/2160 live streams use normal latency; the improve-for-low-latency option is unavailable at that resolution. YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for different devices and network conditions.

Start, check and monitor the broadcast
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before making the event public. Confirm the expected picture, resolution, frame rate and audio are arriving.
- Keep the test running long enough to observe motion, sound and at least one loop transition. YouTube’s advice is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
- Once the preview and health indicators look right, start or manage the event in Live Control Room according to the event’s scheduled or immediate setup. Keep monitoring stream health and messages during the broadcast.
Copyright and live interruptions
A bhajan being devotional, traditional, available online or permitted for in-person worship does not by itself establish permission to livestream a particular recording. Rights may apply separately to a composition, lyrics or translation, arrangement, sound recording and video. Confirm that the permission covers the intended livestream, territories, platform and any saved archive; the status of a specific bhajan cannot be determined without identifying the material and rights holders.
YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. If it detects such content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop; leaving it in place can result in a temporary interruption or termination. Even licensed content can be interrupted if your channel has not been added to the rights owner’s allowlist. Ask the owner about allowlisting rather than assuming a license alone prevents a claim. Read YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| No incoming feed or OBS cannot connect | Incorrect stream URL or key, live access not yet activated, or connection issue. | Recheck the URL and key in YouTube Studio and OBS. If live streaming is new on the channel, allow for YouTube’s stated activation time of up to 24 hours. Check the connection and restart the encoder if needed. |
| Stream health warnings or dropped frames | The upload connection or encoder cannot sustain the selected bitrate and output. | Check upload capacity and OBS/YouTube health indicators. Use a stable bitrate your connection can hold; if necessary, lower the output resolution or frame rate rather than forcing 4K/60. |
| Video is not 4K or 60 fps | The source, OBS output, encoder settings or YouTube’s detected stream settings do not match the intended format. | Check the source properties, OBS output resolution and frame rate, encoder capability, and the Live Control Room preview. For manual resolution selection, YouTube requires a custom stream key with manual settings enabled. |
| Audio is missing, quiet or distorted | Wrong OBS audio source, muted channel, unsuitable levels or an audio setting mismatch. | Check OBS audio meters and source selection, listen to a test, and verify stereo audio codec, bitrate and sample rate against YouTube’s recommendations. |
| Video or sound pauses at the repeat point | The local source loop has a gap, or the file/source is not repeating as expected. | Test a full cycle before going live, inspect the file’s start and end, and confirm loop is enabled in the Media Source properties for your installed OBS version. |
| Placeholder, warning or interruption during the stream | YouTube detected third-party content or a rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. | Stop using material you cannot clear, contact the relevant rights holder, and confirm both permission scope and allowlisting before resuming. |
