You can live stream a compatible DJI drone through the DJI Fly app by sending its camera feed to a platform that accepts RTMP. You’ll need a supported drone-and-controller pairing, an internet-connected phone or controller, livestream permission on the destination account, and that platform’s RTMP server URL and stream key. Check compatibility first: DJI RC does not support livestreaming through DJI Fly.
Check your drone, controller, and DJI Fly version
Livestream support depends on the aircraft, controller, and app version—not just the drone model. DJI says the DJI Fly livestream feature is supported from version 1.4.12 onward. Its current guide describes these controller conditions:
- DJI RC: DJI says livestreaming is not supported.
- DJI RC-N1, DJI RC-N2, or DJI RC-N3: DJI documents RTMP support with other aircraft, subject to the exact pairing.
- DJI RC 2: With compatible aircraft, DJI documents RTMP and Douyin support after updating to DJI Fly v1.15.8. Before that version, its guide says only RTMP livestreaming was supported.
These are not guarantees that every aircraft works with every controller or platform. Check DJI’s DJI Fly livestream operation guide for your exact combination before preparing a stream. For example, DJI’s Mini 4 Pro support page lists DJI RC-N2 and DJI RC 2 as compatible controllers and DJI Fly as the app: Mini 4 Pro support.
App and device requirements can change. The Mini 4 Pro downloads page listed DJI Fly v1.21.12 when checked; it specifies iOS 13.0 or later and recommends iPhone 11 or newer. Confirm the current requirements on DJI’s Mini 4 Pro downloads page rather than assuming those details apply to another model or remain current.

Confirm the platform supports RTMP
DJI Fly’s documented workflow sends a stream to a platform using RTMP. The destination must accept RTMP input, issue a server URL and stream key, and allow livestreaming on your account. A platform’s own mobile livestream feature does not necessarily mean it accepts an external RTMP feed. If the platform is not covered in DJI’s guide, ask the platform whether it supports RTMP and how to obtain its credentials.
DJI notes that without the necessary livestream permission, you may not be able to access the platform’s stream credentials. Check the account and platform requirements before connecting the drone.

Set up an RTMP stream in DJI Fly
- Update DJI Fly and connect it to the internet. Use Wi-Fi or mobile data on the connected phone or controller. DJI says livestreaming is supported from DJI Fly v1.4.12 onward; check the guide for newer controller-specific requirements.
- Get your RTMP credentials. In the destination platform’s livestream settings, obtain the RTMP server URL and stream key. Keep the key private: it grants access to your stream.
- Power on and connect the equipment. Turn on the drone and controller and connect the controller to DJI Fly. For a controller without an integrated screen, connect the phone and controller with a data cable. DJI says this phone connection is not needed for built-in-screen controllers such as DJI RC Pro and DJI Smart Controller.
- Open the livestream menu. In DJI Fly’s flight view, select Transmission > Live Streaming Platforms > RTMP.
- Enter the server URL and stream key. DJI says to place a slash between them unless the server URL already ends with one. Follow the destination platform’s exact credential format.
- Choose the available resolution and bitrate, then tap Start. DJI describes a countdown before streaming begins. A red icon on the camera view indicates a successful connection to the platform.
Choose a resolution and bitrate
DJI lists 1080p and 720p livestream resolutions, but the available options depend on the controller and transmission frame rate. DJI says DJI RC 2 and DJI RC Pro 2 support only 720p; its guide also says DJI RC Pro updated to DJI Fly v1.18.0 supports only 720p.
The listed bitrate choices differ by phone operating system: 2 Mbps or 1 Mbps on iOS, and 5 Mbps or 3 Mbps on Android. DJI says the choices depend on the video-transmission frame rate and cannot be adjusted freely. Select only from the options DJI Fly presents for your setup; these figures do not guarantee a particular stream quality or connection performance.

Account for the microphone requirement on some controllers
With DJI Fly v1.16.0 and later, DJI says DJI RC 2, DJI RC Pro, and DJI Smart Controller require a microphone plugged in to start a livestream through DJI Fly. The guide does not specify microphone models or connectors. Verify that a microphone works with your exact controller before buying one. This requirement is distinct from whether the destination platform accepts RTMP.
Prepare for the flight and stream
- Use a stable internet connection and confirm that DJI Fly remains online.
- Check the drone battery level and signal strength during the stream.
- Plan the flight path around obstacles and keep attention on safe operation, not only the broadcast.
- Follow the flight, privacy, and broadcasting rules that apply where you are flying. Livestream setup does not replace local legal requirements.
DJI’s operational guidance recommends these checks but does not establish a minimum connection speed or guarantee a specific stream quality. Its general safety guidance is not jurisdiction-specific legal advice: DJI Store’s livestream guidance.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
The RTMP option is missing
Check that your controller-and-aircraft pairing supports livestreaming, that DJI Fly is current enough, and that you are using the flight-view menu. DJI RC itself does not support DJI Fly livestreaming. The exact supported pairings can vary, so verify yours in DJI’s guide.
You cannot get a server URL or stream key
The destination may not accept RTMP, or your account may not have livestream permission. Confirm both with the platform. Do not assume its built-in mobile streaming feature provides RTMP credentials.

The stream does not start after tapping Start
Confirm that DJI Fly has internet access and that the RTMP URL and key match the platform’s instructions. Check whether your controller and app version require a plugged-in microphone. DJI does not specify compatible microphone models, so verify the exact connection with DJI before purchasing.
The stream connects but the available quality is lower than expected
DJI Fly may offer only 720p for certain controller/version combinations, and bitrate options depend on operating system and transmission frame rate. Use the options shown in the app; the listed settings are not freely adjustable in every setup.
