Cross Clip’s mobile guide describes that workflow; exact controls can vary by app version or account, so check the live app for the options available to you.
What you need before you start
- The Cross Clip mobile app. Its guide links to the app downloads: Cross Clip’s mobile page.
- A clip URL from Twitch, YouTube, or Kick, or a video file saved on your phone.
- Enough time and available upload capacity to import and compile the video. Cross Clip’s plans page lists upload limits by tier; check the current terms before starting a large upload: Cross Clip plans.

Import a clip or video
Open Cross Clip and paste a supported Twitch, YouTube, or Kick clip URL, or choose a video file from your phone. The app listing also describes uploading a file as part of its clip workflow. Import availability may depend on the source and the current app version.

Trim and arrange the edit
Trim the video to the section you want, then add or rearrange layers. You can start with a preset layout or begin from scratch and position content boxes as needed. Cross Clip’s documented controls cover trimming, layouts, and layers; its public descriptions do not establish support for advanced effects, captions, stickers, or transitions, so do not count on those controls unless they appear in your app.

Choose compile settings
Before compiling, select the frame rate and output resolution offered for your plan. The app listing documents 720p or 1080p output choices, while Cross Clip’s plans page specifically lists 1080p/60fps for Pro. Do not assume every resolution and frame-rate combination is available on every tier.

Compile, then download or share
Compile the video in the app. Cross Clip says you can view finished clips, download or delete them, and share directly to TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube. Confirm the finished file and destination before posting; the app’s sharing options may vary by version.

Cross Clip’s plans page lists the following terms. Prices, upload caps, and included features can change, so check the live page before subscribing.

These are the plan-page prices and limits, not a guarantee that an app-store purchase will show the same terms in every country. Store listings and in-app purchase options can vary by storefront and date. Cross Clip editing is different from Twitch’s mobile clip editor
Cross Clip is a separate app for arranging and compiling clips from supported sources. Twitch’s own mobile clip workflow is narrower: Twitch Help says, “You can trim and title clips during creation on mobile. Portrait clip editing is not yet available on mobile.” That distinction matters if your goal is to create a portrait layout on your phone: Cross Clip documents mobile layout editing, while Twitch’s current help page says portrait editing is not available in Twitch’s native mobile workflow. Twitch announced portrait versions and portrait-layout adjustment in its clip workflow on August 28, 2024, but the current help page’s mobile limitation is the more useful guide to what its native mobile editor supports now: Twitch’s August 28, 2024 announcement.

Problems you may run into
- A clip link will not import: Check that it comes from Twitch, YouTube, or Kick, and try uploading the video file from your phone instead. The documented workflow does not guarantee every URL or source variation will import.
- Your upload fails or is too large: Check the limit for your plan. The plans page lists uploads up to 100 MB on Free and up to 1 GB on Pro; verify the live limit before retrying.
- A resolution or frame rate is missing: Available compile settings depend on the plan. The published Pro feature list names 1080p/60fps; do not infer that every tier supports it.
- You cannot find the downloaded clip: Use Cross Clip’s in-app clip view and download controls, then check the destination your phone uses for downloaded videos. Device file locations differ, and the available documentation does not establish one universal save path.
- You expected captions, effects, or transitions: The documented workflow establishes trimming, layer arrangement, layouts, and compile settings, but not those advanced editing features. Check the app itself or use a separate editor if you need a specific control.
