Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo stream live on YouTube while you’re out and about, use the YouTube app on an eligible phone or tablet: verify your channel, make sure it has no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days, enable live streaming, then tap Create → Live. Mobile streaming additionally requires at least 50 subscribers. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before you plan to go live.
YouTube’s minimum age for live streaming is 16. Mobile is the most direct route for an IRL stream, but a computer webcam, an encoder, or a supported console may fit better if you need screen sharing, gameplay, overlays, or more production control.
Check whether your channel can go live
YouTube’s general live-stream requirements are a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. YouTube also states that creators must be at least 16 to live stream. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours; after the feature is enabled, you can start a stream immediately. YouTube’s live-streaming overview explains the general requirements.
Mobile has additional requirements: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no restrictions in the previous 90 days, live streaming enabled, and an Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+ device. YouTube says the first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after you enable live streaming. Check eligibility and enable the feature ahead of your planned broadcast, rather than waiting until you are ready to leave.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube’s mobile guidance says users aged 13–17 have unlisted as the default privacy setting for mobile streams; for users 18 and older, the default is public. A default is not a requirement: choose the visibility you intend before going live. The minimum age to stream and the default privacy setting are separate rules.
Choose the route that fits your IRL stream
| Route | Best suited to | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile app | IRL vlogging, quick updates, and broadcasts away from a workstation | An eligible channel and supported phone or tablet; mobile also requires 50 subscribers |
| Webcam | A straightforward stream from a computer | A computer with a webcam |
| Encoder | Gameplay, screen sharing, overlays, or external audio/video equipment | Streaming software or a hardware encoder; connected cameras and microphones are optional |
| Console | Gameplay from a supported modern console | Follow the console maker’s instructions for its device |
YouTube describes mobile as suitable for vlogging and quick updates, webcam streaming as a simple computer-camera option, and encoders as a fit for gameplay, overlays, and external equipment. For a walk-and-talk broadcast, the mobile app is usually the direct choice. If your IRL production depends on a separate camera, multiple audio/video sources, or overlays, an encoder can provide the needed controls—but it is not a prerequisite for going live.
How to go live from a phone or tablet
- Enable live streaming ahead of time. In the YouTube app, tap Create → Live and follow any prompts to enable the feature. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Set up the broadcast. Add a title and the stream details, choose visibility, and set the audience information. Review privacy carefully, especially if YouTube has applied an unlisted default to your mobile stream.
- Frame and check the shot. Confirm the picture, sound, and connection before starting. If the broadcast will be seen in both horizontal and vertical formats, frame the important action with the crop in mind (see the format section below).
- Start the stream. Tap Go live when you are ready. You can also schedule a mobile stream in advance through the calendar in the YouTube app.
- Finish deliberately. Tap Finish when the broadcast is over. YouTube creates an archive; you can change its privacy or delete it afterward. See YouTube’s mobile streaming instructions for the app workflow.
How to stream from a computer or encoder
Use a webcam for a simple computer stream
If you want a basic computer-camera broadcast, YouTube’s webcam route requires a computer with a webcam. Follow the webcam option in YouTube’s live-streaming setup. This route is simpler than an encoder when you do not need overlays, gameplay capture, or external production equipment.

Connect an encoder through Live Control Room
- Create or select the stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream or select the scheduled one you intend to use.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the Control Room into the matching fields in your streaming software or hardware encoder. A stream key functions like a password for sending video to your stream; do not share it or display it publicly.
- Send the feed and check preview. Start the encoder output and wait for the video preview to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm that the picture and audio are correct.
- Go live in YouTube. When the preview is ready, click Go live in Live Control Room. When you finish, end the stream in YouTube and stop the encoder.
YouTube says encoder streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. If a stream key is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room before using it again. YouTube’s encoder setup guide covers connecting and starting an encoder stream.

Prepare a scheduled encoder event
For a scheduled event, YouTube recommends configuring the stream at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. Use that lead time to check the preview, confirm the event is accessible from channel and watch pages and on mobile devices, and monitor audio and video quality. These are operational recommendations, not a guarantee against equipment or connection failures. YouTube’s live-streaming tips provide the event checks.
Plan for horizontal and vertical viewing
YouTube Live Control Room supports dual horizontal (16:9) and vertical (9:16) output by default for streams where dual streaming is available. The vertical version is a center crop of the horizontal picture, though other layout choices are available. You can disable dual streaming in settings, but you cannot add vertical output after the stream has started.

Before you begin, decide whether important action, people, or on-screen text will remain visible in the center crop. A wide shot that works in horizontal format may cut off the subject or context vertically. Reframe the shot or choose the format settings before starting. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming overview.
What equipment do you actually need?
Start with the device and route you already have. YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. A webcam, microphone, headset or headphones, and hardware encoder are examples of optional equipment for particular setups—not a universal checklist.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Phone or tablet: Use the mobile route for an on-the-go stream if your device and channel meet its requirements.
- External microphone: Consider one if the built-in mic does not suit your environment or how you plan to speak to viewers.
- Webcam: Needed for the webcam route on a computer, but not for mobile streaming.
- Headphones: Useful when you need to monitor audio; not required for every stream.
- Encoder: Use streaming software or a hardware encoder when you need screen capture, overlays, or external audio/video inputs.
YouTube’s equipment examples and advice are in its live-streaming tips. No particular brand or model is required by the workflows described here.

Preflight checklist for an IRL broadcast
- Confirm your channel is verified, has no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days, and is eligible for the route you chose.
- If streaming from mobile, confirm the 50-subscriber threshold, supported operating system, and that live streaming is enabled.
- Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation; test access before the day of your broadcast.
- Set the title, visibility, and audience details, and check whether the privacy default matches your intention.
- Check framing for your intended horizontal or vertical output before starting.
- For an encoder event, connect the stream URL and key, check the preview, and keep the key private.
- Check audio and video quality and, for scheduled encoder streams, make the event-accessibility checks YouTube recommends.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
Live streaming is unavailable
Check channel verification, restrictions during the previous 90 days, and whether live streaming has been enabled. Mobile streams additionally require 50 subscribers and a supported device. For a first stream, activation may still be pending for up to 24 hours.
The mobile Live option is missing or the first stream will not start
Confirm you are using the YouTube app on a supported Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+ device, that the channel meets mobile eligibility, and that activation has completed. YouTube’s mobile help page lists the requirements.
The encoder preview does not appear
Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and stream key from the intended stream in Live Control Room and that it is sending the feed. Wait for preview before clicking Go live. If you suspect the key has been exposed, reset it in the Control Room.

Every slot streams the file as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
