A stream that starts automatically at a chosen time is not necessarily a service that will keep looping video continuously. Vendor documentation describes capabilities and limits; it is not independent evidence of uptime or comparative performance.

To compare services fairly, check continuity, unattended operation, recovery or maintenance behavior, bandwidth requirements, destination rules, plan eligibility, production controls, and archive retention. A claim of “no duration limit” does not itself mean a stream cannot be interrupted.

How the other options work—and where their limits matter
Castr: a documented 24/7 workflow
Castr’s help center says a source that remains live can stream 24/7. It describes unlimited event duration as dependent on an active subscription and enough streaming bandwidth. That makes Castr a documented fit for continuous operation, but does not establish uninterrupted uptime. Check the current plan and bandwidth requirements against your source and intended destination.
Vimeo Extended Streaming: encoder-fed continuous playback
Vimeo’s Extended Streaming mode supports encoder-fed video for 24/7 operation. Its Live Events FAQ describes 24/7 as an Enterprise add-on and lists up to three simultaneous streams, a 12-hour limit per event, and bandwidth conditions, with the 24/7 extension as an add-on. Those constraints make it important to verify current eligibility and terms before building a workflow around it.

Restream: duration without a guarantee of uninterrupted service
Restream says it imposes no stream-duration limit, but warns that maintenance may restart a stream after it has run continuously for more than 24 hours. It also says destination platform limits remain in force. Restream’s help page says YouTube archives only streams shorter than 12 hours, so a continuous broadcast should not be treated as a single indefinitely retained recording.
StreamYard: useful for scheduled broadcasts, not proven 24/7 looping
StreamYard documents scheduling prerecorded video to begin automatically at a selected time, including scheduling up to 365 days in advance. Its paid plans have no StreamYard-side duration limit, while destinations can impose limits. That does not establish an unattended, repeating 24/7 loop. The prerecorded mode also omits some standard live controls, such as overlays and media assets.

YouTube Live Control Room with an encoder
YouTube lists encoder streaming among its ways to go live. That can be part of a do-it-yourself production workflow, but the official guidance cited here does not present Live Control Room as a turnkey prerecorded scheduler or cloud loop. The channel and stream remain subject to YouTube eligibility and policies.

YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to livestream. Live content must comply with the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. If an account is restricted from livestreaming, YouTube says it may not use another channel to livestream while the restriction remains active; attempting to circumvent it may lead to termination. A different streaming service does not override YouTube’s rules.

Archive retention is separate from whether a service can keep sending a live feed. StreamYard’s help page says YouTube archives only the last 12 hours; Restream separately says YouTube archives streams shorter than 12 hours. Plan how viewers will access recordings rather than assuming a 24/7 stream becomes a complete, permanent replay.
Choose by workflow, not by the word “live”
