Yes, for a scheduled stream you can open it in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and use Edit to change its available details. Thumbnail controls may be under Customize when they’re offered. If the stream is already live, what you can change depends on how it was created: YouTube explicitly says webcam stream settings can be changed while live, but its encoder guidance does not make the same blanket promise for every live stream.
Change details on a scheduled stream
- In YouTube Studio, click Create, then Go live to open Live Control Room.
- Open Manage and select the scheduled stream.
- Click Edit to open the stream details. Change the title or other metadata fields available there.
- To change presentation options, open Customize and check for thumbnail controls. Available controls can vary by stream type and state.
- Save your changes.
YouTube’s live stream settings guidance describes editing stream details and customization options. Its encoder instructions say scheduled encoder streams are managed in Live Control Room.
What if the stream is already live?
Webcam streams
YouTube explicitly says webcam stream settings can be changed whether the stream is live or not. Open the stream’s settings and check which fields are available. See YouTube’s webcam streaming instructions.
Encoder or mobile streams
YouTube’s encoder and mobile settings guidance describes editing through stream settings or while scheduling, but does not make an equivalent universal statement that every title or thumbnail control remains editable after going live. Open the stream in Manage, select Edit, and confirm which fields YouTube presents for that stream. The encoder/mobile settings page excludes webcam streams, so its guidance should not be applied as though it covers every creation method.

Does a 24/7 stream have a different rule?
YouTube’s reviewed help pages do not specify a separate title or thumbnail rule for streams that run continuously for 24 hours or longer. That does not establish that every control behaves identically in every interface or live state. Use the stream’s own Manage and Edit controls to verify what can be changed.
The reviewed guidance also does not say how quickly an edit appears on every viewer surface. Don’t assume a particular refresh delay; check the stream where viewers see it after saving.
