To redirect viewers when a scheduled YouTube livestream ends, open YouTube Studio, go to Content > Live, edit the scheduled stream, then choose Customization > Redirect > Add. Select a Premiere or an eligible live stream. The sending channel must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; another channel must also allow your channel to redirect viewers to it.
Before you set up the redirect
- Check eligibility on the sending channel. YouTube’s Live Redirect guidance, checked October 3, 2026, says the creator sending viewers needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Choose the destination. You can send viewers to one of your own Premières or to another channel’s live stream. A cross-channel destination will only be available if that channel permits redirects from you and the stream is live or upcoming.
- Prepare a Premiere first, if that is your destination. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before configuring the livestream. If the goal is to guide Premiere viewers toward a livestream instead, YouTube recommends pinning a chat message on the Premiere’s watch page.
Set the redirect on the scheduled stream
- Schedule or create the source livestream in YouTube Studio if you have not already done so.
- In YouTube Studio, open Content, then select the Live tab.
- Find the scheduled stream you want viewers to leave from. Hover over it and select Edit.
- Open Customization. Under Redirect, select Add.
- Choose your Premiere, or search for another channel’s live stream. If you are sending viewers to another creator, that creator must have allowed the redirect in their YouTube Studio settings.
- Save the stream’s settings. When the source broadcast ends, YouTube displays a confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
The redirect is configured in YouTube Studio on the source stream; it is not a setting in OBS or another encoder. YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance covers stream setup separately from the redirect setting.
How cross-channel permission works
The destination channel controls whether other creators can send viewers to it. Its owner manages this in YouTube Studio under Settings > Community. YouTube lists permission choices for subscribed channels, all channels, or specified channels, subject to the constraints shown in Studio. If you cannot find a channel when adding a destination, check that it is live or upcoming and ask its owner to confirm that their permission settings allow your channel.
What viewers should expect
When your source stream ends, YouTube moves viewers to the selected Premiere or live stream. Tell viewers to wait a few seconds while the destination loads. The transition may not start automatically for everyone: viewers who have autoplay disabled may need to click play.

When the redirect option or destination is missing
- You cannot add a redirect: Confirm that the sending channel meets YouTube’s eligibility criteria: more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- The other channel does not appear: Confirm that its stream is live or upcoming, and that the destination channel’s Community settings permit your channel to redirect viewers.
- You are redirecting to a Premiere that is not listed: Set up the Premiere before configuring the source stream, then return to the scheduled stream’s Redirect setting.
- Viewers say the destination did not start: Ask them to wait a few seconds for the screen to reload and, if autoplay is disabled, click play.
- The Studio labels look different: YouTube may update its interface. Look for the redirect control in the scheduled stream’s customization settings and confirm the current steps in YouTube Help.
