Not with Vimeo’s currently documented extended-streaming setup. Vimeo supports YouTube simulcasting for live events, and it separately supports 24/7 extended streaming, but Vimeo says extended streams cannot simulcast to other destinations. You can use Vimeo to play a prerecorded video as a live event, but that is not a documented continuous 24/7 YouTube simulcast. For continuous prerecorded playback on YouTube, use a service that sends the stream directly to YouTube or a suitable encoder workflow.
Why Vimeo cannot do both jobs in one stream
There are two distinct Vimeo capabilities behind this question. Vimeo’s YouTube simulcast sends a Vimeo live event to YouTube. Vimeo’s extended streaming mode is its documented option for streaming continuously, including video from an encoder, but Vimeo’s Help Center FAQ says: “No, simulcasting to other destinations is not available for extended streams.” That destination restriction is the deciding limitation—not an India-specific network or account setting.

If you still want to send a Vimeo event to YouTube
This makes sense for a scheduled or finite live event, not for the requested Vimeo-powered 24/7 simulcast. Vimeo documents two ways to connect the event to YouTube:

Connect a YouTube account as a destination
- In the Vimeo event’s Destinations panel, connect the YouTube account and select it as a destination. The account-integration option is subject to Vimeo’s eligible plan requirements.
- Configure and start the Vimeo live event using Vimeo’s production workflow.
- For a scheduled YouTube RTMP event, open YouTube Live Control Room and click Go Live when required. Vimeo says that this manual step is required for the scheduled RTMP workflow.
Add YouTube as an RTMP destination
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the event and copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key.
- Add a YouTube RTMP destination in the Vimeo event and enter those credentials.
- Start the Vimeo event, then follow YouTube’s preview and live controls. Do not enable Vimeo extended streaming expecting it to preserve this simulcast: Vimeo documents that extended streams cannot simulcast.
Treat the stream key like a password: keep it private, enter it only in the intended service, and replace it in YouTube if it is exposed. The exact Vimeo panel labels can vary with the event workflow and account configuration.

Start an uploaded video as a live event
- Open the uploaded video in an eligible Vimeo account and choose Stream live.
- Set up the event and its destination as a live event. If YouTube is the destination, use Vimeo’s YouTube integration or RTMP method described above.
- Start the event and check the YouTube preview and output. Vimeo notes that uploaded captions and subtitles are not shown during its video-as-live playback.
Schedule prerecorded content in Vimeo’s web production tool
- Use Vimeo’s web-based production tool to schedule the prerecorded video event and configure its start.
- Check the event’s YouTube destination and preview before the scheduled start.
- Do not treat automatic scheduled start as a 24/7 loop: Vimeo’s documentation does not say this workflow creates a continuous YouTube simulcast. The automated prerecorded-event feature is also unavailable when using external encoders.
How to run prerecorded video continuously on YouTube
YouTube’s official encoder guide lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. The guide also documents the general encoder route: enable live streaming, create or schedule an event, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder, start sending the stream, and confirm it in Live Control Room. The materials available here do not establish Gyre’s current India availability, pricing, features, or terms, so verify those directly before choosing it.
Check YouTube channel eligibility first
- The channel must be verified and free of live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days.
- First-time activation of YouTube live streaming may take up to 24 hours. Allow for that delay before a planned launch.
- Use a stream key for the intended event or encoder workflow, and keep it confidential. If you change or revoke the key, update the encoder as well.
Set the encoder and network deliberately
- Use a codec and audio format supported by YouTube’s current live encoder settings. YouTube documents H.264 among its supported video codecs and AAC or MP3 audio.
- Set encoding to constant bitrate (CBR). YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.
- Use the RTMPS endpoint when the encoder supports it; RTMPS is RTMP carried over TLS/SSL.
- Make sure available upload capacity exceeds the combined outgoing bitrate and retain YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. This is a general recommendation, not a measured upload-speed figure for India.
- Start with a private or otherwise appropriate test, inspect the Live Control Room preview, verify audio and video, test failover, and monitor the stream after it goes live.
Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings table when configuring exact bitrates and resolutions: the appropriate values depend on the output format and can change. Do not assume that a local internet plan’s advertised download speed indicates enough stable upload capacity.

Before streaming a documentary or building a looped playlist, confirm that you have the rights needed to broadcast every video, soundtrack, photograph, and other included material on YouTube. A live-streaming tool does not grant those rights. Replaying a video continuously also does not, by itself, establish that a channel meets YouTube’s monetization or reused-content requirements; those decisions depend on YouTube’s current policies and review of the channel. Check YouTube’s applicable rules before building a schedule around monetization.

- Vimeo event reaches YouTube, but cannot run as a 24/7 extended stream: this is the documented mode limitation, not a missing toggle. Use a direct-to-YouTube continuous-stream workflow instead.
- YouTube does not accept the stream: confirm live streaming is enabled for the verified channel, the activation period has passed, and no live-streaming restriction is active. Check that the server URL and stream key match the intended event.
- The event is scheduled but not live: for Vimeo’s scheduled YouTube RTMP workflow, Vimeo says you must manually click Go Live in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Video starts but buffers or drops: compare the encoder’s combined outgoing bitrate with stable available upload capacity, preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and check for competing uploads or network use. Test failover rather than assuming a backup path works.
- Video is visible but audio is missing or wrong: check the selected audio input and supported AAC or MP3 encoding, then confirm both picture and sound in YouTube’s preview.
- A scheduled prerecorded Vimeo event does not start automatically: verify that it was configured in Vimeo’s web-based production tool. Vimeo says that automatic prerecorded scheduling is unavailable when using external encoders.
- Captions are absent on Vimeo’s video-as-live playback: Vimeo notes that uploaded captions and subtitles are not shown in that mode.
