To play multiple nature videos in a repeating YouTube live stream, use OBS Studio’s VLC Video Source: add your local video files to its playlist and leave Loop Playlist enabled. VLC must be installed, and its architecture must match OBS. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live and test the stream. The playlist repeats while your computer, files, power, and internet connection keep working; OBS does not guarantee unattended uptime or automatic recovery.
What you need
- OBS Studio and VLC installed on the computer that will run the stream. If you use 64-bit OBS, OBS documentation says to install 64-bit VLC.
- Local nature-video files that the computer can read, arranged in the order you want if you plan to play them sequentially.
- A verified YouTube channel without live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s setup guidance lists both as requirements for live streaming.
- Footage and audio you have the necessary rights to use. YouTube requires live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; the setup instructions do not determine whether a particular video or soundtrack is licensed for your use.
OBS’s media-source documentation explains its Media Source and VLC Video Source options. YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance covers channel eligibility and setup.
Add several videos to an OBS playlist
- Install VLC and OBS. Match their architecture: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for the VLC Video Source.
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, select the scene you want to use for the nature stream, or create one for it.
- Add the playlist source. In the Sources panel, select the add button, choose VLC Video Source, and create the source.
- Add the video files. In the VLC Video Source properties, add your local nature videos to the playlist. Check that every file is present and that the order is the one you want.
- Set playback behavior. Keep Loop Playlist on so playback restarts after the last item. Turn on Shuffle Playlist only if you want a randomized order. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default and Shuffle Playlist as off by default.
- Check the scene. Preview the source and make sure the video fills the intended output area. Confirm that the files play and that audio levels are appropriate before going live.
OBS describes VLC Video Source as supporting playlists, unlike Media Source, which handles a single item. For just one video, add a Media Source and enable its Loop option; OBS documents that option as off by default.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live and test
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or select the live setup for the stream.
- Configure OBS as the encoder. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup flow and enter the stream key in OBS. Treat the stream key as a password: do not show it on screen or share it.
- Run a test before relying on the playlist. Use a private or otherwise appropriate test, then watch the YouTube output. Check transitions between files, video framing, sound, and whether playback returns to the first item after the last.
- Monitor the computer and stream. Looping addresses what happens after the final playlist item; it does not keep the computer powered, restore a failed internet connection, or guarantee that OBS will recover if YouTube disconnects.
YouTube distinguishes the transmitted feed, or stream, from the live event or video viewers watch, called a broadcast. Its API documentation describes a 24/7 feed continuing while a separate broadcast is started and completed. That distinction matters if you manage ongoing feeds separately from individual live events.

- 【USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C: 10Gbps & Versatile Connectivity】The USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C port on the KAMRUI P2 small pc supports 10Gbps data transfer speeds and can also output DisplayPort 1.4 video. Together with Gigabit LAN, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth, you get a fast, flexible, and productive connected environment – wired or wireless.
Keep the stream online: local setup or cloud playback
An OBS playlist repeats only while the local setup remains operational. A power interruption, computer sleep or shutdown, unreadable file, OBS problem, or internet outage can interrupt the feed. Plan to monitor the output and test the full playlist; the documented playlist settings are not an uptime guarantee.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud plays the uploaded videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K at 60 fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams, not camera-based live video. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.

YouTube limits and an optional protocol detail
YouTube Help lists a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key (page accessed 2026). These are platform limits, not a recommendation to run multiple streams.
You do not need to change YouTube’s ingestion protocol just to play a playlist. YouTube’s HLS guidance is relevant only if you deliberately choose HLS for specialized encoder or codec needs, such as HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP. It specifies TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no byte ranges; YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP. These are HLS ingestion requirements, not OBS playlist settings.

Troubleshoot common playback problems
- VLC Video Source is missing or does not play: Install VLC and confirm that its architecture matches OBS. For 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
- Only one file plays: Check that you added a VLC Video Source and added each file to its playlist. A Media Source is the option for a single file.
- The playlist stops at the end: Open the VLC Video Source properties and enable Loop Playlist.
- Files play in an unexpected order: Review their playlist order and turn off Shuffle Playlist if you want a deliberate sequence.
- A file is blank, silent, or skipped: Check that the file is readable and plays locally, then remove and add it again if needed. The documented settings do not establish that every codec or damaged file will play.
- The stream goes offline: Check whether OBS is still running, the computer has power and internet access, and YouTube’s Live Control Room still shows the stream. A looping playlist does not itself reconnect a failed encoder or connection.
- The live setup is unavailable: Verify the channel and check for live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, as required by YouTube’s setup guidance.
