Select the stream, open Analytics, and view the watch-time report. You can check a completed stream’s video-level watch time or a channel-wide total. For a broadcast that is still live, YouTube documents real-time metrics in Live Control Room, but does not confirm that Analytics shows a cumulative watch-time total for that individual ongoing broadcast.
Check watch time for a completed live stream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
- From the left menu, select Content, then the Live tab.
- Select the relevant stream and open Analytics.
- Choose the individual-video scope if you want figures for that stream. In YouTube Analytics, select Live to isolate live content, or Live & on demand if you want the selected report to include both live and on-demand viewing.
- Open the watch-time report. You can download report data as a CSV.
YouTube defines post-stream Total watch time as the total time the event was played across all views. It says live-stream metrics become available in Analytics within minutes after the stream ends; the documentation does not specify an exact delay. YouTube Help: Measure key moments for live streams.
Choose the right scope and metric
Individual video or channel
Use the video-level view for one broadcast. Use channel scope for an aggregate across the channel. YouTube provides watch-time reports at both levels, so check the selected scope before interpreting a total.
Live or Live & on demand
The Live content filter isolates live-stream reporting. Live & on demand includes both live and on-demand viewing in the selected scope. Pick the filter that matches what you mean by “watch time.”

Watch time, concurrent viewers, and average view duration
These are different measures. Watch time is accumulated playback time; concurrent viewers describes how many viewers are watching at a point in time, while average view duration is an average. The dedicated live-stream Engagement view includes stream metrics such as concurrent viewers and chat messages; those are not a substitute for total watch time. The computer path is Content → Live → stream → Analytics → Engagement. YouTube Help: Measure key moments for live streams.
What to check while a 24/7 broadcast is still live
For an ongoing stream, YouTube documents real-time stream metrics in Live Control Room. Its help identifies concurrent viewers, duration, views, and average view duration among the real-time metrics available for encoder streams. YouTube does not explicitly say that the individual video’s Analytics page displays a running cumulative watch-time total before a 24/7 broadcast ends. Do not treat a real-time concurrent-viewer figure as cumulative watch time or assume Analytics has a final total while the event is running.

Analytics data is based on Video ID and is processed and despammed, so its figures can differ from Live Control Room’s real-time metrics. The documentation does not explain whether separate events, restarts, or interruptions are consolidated into one continuous-stream total. Check vertical-stream performance after a dual broadcast
For a dual horizontal and vertical broadcast, YouTube says Live Control Room combines metrics for both. Metrics for only the vertical stream become available 24 hours after the stream ends. To isolate them on desktop:

- In Studio, open the ended stream and select Analytics.
- Open Advanced mode.
- Set Breakdown to Playback location, choose a date range longer than the first 24 hours after the stream ended, then select Vertical live feed.
