To keep a YouTube study playlist repeating, start a video in the playlist and turn on its playlist Loop or Repeat control. That repeats the selected playlist, but YouTube’s help instructions do not promise gapless transitions between separate videos—so a pause between them may still occur.
Loop the whole playlist, not just one video
YouTube has separate controls for repeating a playlist and repeating the current video. Use the control attached to the playlist; the Loop option in the computer player’s right-click menu repeats only the current video. YouTube Help’s playlist-repeat instructions cover computer, TV, and console playback, while its Android instructions describe the mobile controls.
On a computer
- Open a video that belongs to the study playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the video.
- Select Loop in the playlist box. Check that you used this playlist control rather than right-clicking the player and selecting Loop, which repeats just the current video.
On Android
- Start a video from the playlist.
- In the playlist control box beneath the video, tap Loop to repeat the playlist.
- Check the icon if you are unsure of the mode: a 1 indicates that only the current video is repeating. Tap Loop again to change the mode.
On a TV or gaming console
- Select the playlist and start playback.
- Press down on the remote or controller to open the playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the control reads “Repeat • Playlist.” You can also access the Repeat toggle through Settings while watching.
Playlist repeat, single-video repeat, and Autoplay are different

For a particular study playlist, choose playlist Loop or Repeat rather than relying on Autoplay. YouTube says Autoplay controls and defaults can vary by device and user. It may be off by default for users aged 13–17, and can stop after 30 minutes of inactivity on a mobile network or four hours on Wi-Fi. See YouTube Help’s Autoplay instructions.
Will looping remove the gap between videos?
No zero-gap result is guaranteed by the cited YouTube instructions. They explain how playlist repeat works but do not specify transition latency or promise a seamless handoff between separate videos. Loop the playlist to keep it repeating, but allow for a possible pause between videos; do not assume that a setting will eliminate every gap.
