To run a product demo continuously on YouTube in India, enable live streaming on your channel, create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the stream URL and key, then test and monitor the feed. YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders, but a 24/7 stream is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service: plan for supervision, recovery and what happens if you need a complete replay.
Before you set up the stream
Check channel eligibility and activation time
Your channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube’s stated minimum age for live streaming is 16. Choose the production setup
For a screen-based demo, a software encoder on a computer may be enough. A standalone hardware encoder is an option when the demo uses a camera or production feed. Choose based on whether you need overlays, external audio or video inputs, and whether an operator will be present. YouTube supports both routes; hardware is not a universal requirement.
The available guidance does not establish a bitrate or minimum upload speed for your chosen resolution, frame rate, encoder and Indian ISP. Decide your output quality, consult the encoder’s current settings guidance, measure sustained upload capacity and test the actual connection under operating conditions. Do not assume a speed-test result alone proves a 24/7 setup will remain stable.

Set up the YouTube stream with an encoder
- Enable live streaming. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go live. Use the Stream tab for an immediate stream or Manage to schedule one. Set the title, description, visibility and other stream details. Scheduling is useful when you want to share the stream URL in advance. Labels may change as YouTube updates Studio.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the matching streaming settings in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not display it in the demo or share it.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview. Confirm the expected picture and audio reach Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, select Go live there when the preview is ready.
- Verify playback before launch. Check the channel or watch page on desktop and mobile. Confirm that audio and video are present and that the correct visibility and stream details are in place.

Test reliability and plan monitoring
Before announcing the stream, configure the encoder well in advance and test the failure path—not just the normal start. YouTube recommends checking the preview, testing failover, confirming the local archive file is growing, verifying playback on channel/watch pages and mobile, and continuously monitoring audio and video. - Arrange a person or monitoring procedure to notice missing picture, silent audio, encoder failure, power loss or an internet interruption.
- If you have a backup encoder or connection, test the transition by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet, then confirm the player reaches the backup as intended.
- Check the local recording during the test rather than assuming it is being written.
- Decide who can respond to an alert and how they will restart or switch the feed. A stream intended to stay live around the clock still needs an interruption and recovery plan.
Choose continuous streaming or shorter sessions
A single continuous stream makes the demo available at any time, but it complicates replay planning. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its documentation does not promise an automatically archived, complete replay for a stream lasting 24 hours or longer. If a complete replay matters, consider shorter sessions or a separate local recording, and verify the archive workflow you intend to use before launch.
Check product rights and YouTube policies
Use footage, music, graphics and other material for which you have the necessary rights. Showing a product does not automatically grant permission to reuse its promotional video or soundtrack. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to hold necessary rights, including applicable music rights, and to meet relevant laws and territory-specific licensing, registration, notification, consent or approval requirements. Live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. Monetized content is expected to be original and authentic; generic, mass-produced or repetitive content may be ineligible. Make the stream a genuine product demonstration or useful explanation rather than simply looping an unchanged promotional clip and expecting it to qualify for monetization.

Going live does not by itself make a channel eligible to earn. YouTube’s India-localized monetization guidance says creators must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Programme (YPP), follow monetization policies and meet feature-specific requirements. The thresholds below are YouTube Help eligibility figures accessed in 2026, not a promise of approval, audience growth or earnings. Rules can change; check the channel’s Earn tab for the route and features currently available to you.

See YouTube’s India-localized earning guidance for current eligibility details. YouTube Shopping may let eligible creators promote products from their own shop or tag products from other brands through its Shopping affiliate programme. India is listed among creator locations for promoting other brands, but channel requirements apply, including YPP membership and subscriber criteria; check availability in Studio rather than assuming every Indian channel can tag products.
YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships as potential earning features subject to eligibility. Ads are not guaranteed to serve. YouTube says ads are turned off when a live stream is embedded on an external site with autoplay. Treat these as conditional features, not predictable income from keeping a stream online. The India guidance also notes creators may owe taxes on YouTube earnings in their country of residence and directs them to their local tax authority; this does not determine an individual creator’s Indian tax obligations.
