How to Loop a Conference Replay on YouTube After the Event

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Once a YouTube Live conference has ended and its replay is available, open the archived video and use YouTube’s built-in Loop or Repeat control. On a computer, right-click the player and select Loop; on mobile, open Settings → Additional settings → Loop video; on a TV or console, choose Repeat. To cycle through several sessions, use a playlist and loop the playlist instead.

First, find the conference replay

After the event, you are watching the archived replay as a regular YouTube video, not controlling the active live player. YouTube says a live-stream archive is uploaded to the channel by default, and recommends organizing archives and highlights into playlists. See YouTube’s guidance on promoting a live stream.

If the replay is available, open its watch page and follow the steps for your device. YouTube’s labels and controls can change between app versions, so if a label differs, look in the current playback settings or playlist controls.

Loop one replay on your device

Computer

  1. Open the conference replay’s YouTube watch page.
  2. Right-click inside the video player.
  3. Select Loop. YouTube says, “The video will repeat continuously.”

These are YouTube’s computer instructions: Loop videos or playlists on YouTube — Computer.

Loop a playlist of conference sessions

If the conference is split into separate talk or session videos, put those videos in a YouTube playlist. Start playback from the playlist, then turn on its Loop control. On a TV or console, select Repeat until the status indicates Repeat • Playlist. You can also repeat a single video within a playlist. The playlist approach is useful when you want the sessions to play in sequence before cycling back to the first one. See YouTube’s computer and TV/console loop instructions and Android and playlist instructions.

If the replay is missing

  1. In YouTube Studio, check Content → Live and confirm the archive’s visibility. YouTube’s archive documentation explains that archive visibility can be edited from the content controls: Archive live streams.
  2. Check whether a local recording was saved during the event. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not assume an archive exists for an event longer than that threshold.
  3. If the replay still is not available on the channel, consult the organizer or channel owner for the recording or its visibility status.

YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Its live-streaming tips also advise checking during production that local archive files are intact and growing.

Replay looping is not live DVR

YouTube DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume while a broadcast is still live. It is not a repeat-after-end feature. After the broadcast ends, use the posted archive’s Loop or Repeat control instead. YouTube notes that DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, and viewers cannot seek to a point before the stream began. Details: Turn on DVR on live streams.

Want to broadcast the old recording as live again?

That is different from looping a replay for viewers on its watch page. The viewer-side Loop button only repeats playback; it does not republish the video as a live broadcast. YouTube’s available guidance covers encoder streaming and Live Redirect destinations, but the steps for repeatedly feeding a finished conference recording into a new live broadcast are not established here. Consult current YouTube Live and encoder guidance before setting up that workflow: Learn about live streams and Manage live stream settings.
