- Confirm channel access. Verify the channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restrictions that would prevent you from going live.
- Prepare the program. Use video and audio you are entitled to stream. Decide how the video will repeat and how you will restart it if playback or the connection stops; check that behavior in your selected playback and encoder workflow before depending on it around the clock.
- Set up a YouTube encoder stream. In YouTube’s live control room, create or select an encoder-based stream and obtain its stream key. In OBS, open the streaming settings, select YouTube as the service, and connect the stream using the key or the available account connection method. Clear rights before looping relaxation audio or footage
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams. A match may cause a placeholder image and a warning to stop the third-party content; if it remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream.
- Confirm that your license covers the actual use: continuous live streaming on YouTube, not merely personal listening or use in a one-time video.
- If you have permission from a rights owner, ask whether your channel also needs to be added to the Content ID allowlist. YouTube notes that licensed content may still be interrupted if the owner has not allowlisted the channel.
- Do not assume a “royalty-free” label automatically clears music for a 24/7 live broadcast. Check the specific license and ask the rights owner about any platform allowlisting needed.
- Keep records of permissions and license terms so you can respond if a match occurs. A license’s legal effect depends on its terms; YouTube’s guidance is not legal advice about an individual work or agreement.
