To run a 24/7 Gurbani stream on YouTube, prepare a rights-cleared audio-and-video program, connect an encoder to a YouTube stream through Live Control Room, and keep the encoder and internet connection operating while you monitor stream health. YouTube also documents a way to keep a continuous broadcast running while creating and ending a separate, shorter broadcast on the same incoming stream.
Before you begin: confirm access and rights
Check that your channel can stream
YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. It also says a live streamer must be at least 16 years old. Check the current guidance and your channel’s access before scheduling; eligibility rules can change.
Clear the exact recordings and visuals
Decide whether the stream will use a live performance, a recording, or another permitted source. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for each recording, performance, visual, and any music included. Gurbani as a subject does not establish that a particular recording or performance is free to rebroadcast. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a stream if it detects a match. If a recording is licensed, the rights owner may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” Contact the relevant rights owner and get permission for the specific material; do not assume that permission for a composition or text also covers a recording.

Prepare the continuous program
Choose what viewers will see and hear
Assemble the audio and visuals into the program you intend to stream. Check that the audio is clear and at a consistent level, the visuals are appropriate for continuous viewing, and the program does not contain material you are not authorized to broadcast. Test the actual files and settings you plan to use, rather than relying on a short or different sample.
Choose an encoder and a reliable operating setup
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming for prepared audio/video programs. The encoder sends the incoming feed; YouTube’s viewer-facing broadcast is a separate object. You can run an encoder on a computer you keep powered and connected, or use a cloud service that plays uploaded video to YouTube. For a computer setup, the sources do not establish a minimum CPU, memory, storage, or network specification: requirements depend on your chosen encoder, source media, resolution, and frame rate. Verify compatibility with the encoder you select.
Create the YouTube stream and broadcast
-
Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to use Live Control Room. Follow the current prompts to create or select the broadcast and configure its title, visibility, and schedule.
-
Create or select the incoming stream in Live Control Room. YouTube’s API distinguishes the
liveStream, which represents the incoming audio/video and delivery settings, from theliveBroadcast, which is the viewer-facing event. The API documentation describes how these resources can be connected; creators can use Live Control Room without calling the API.What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Copy the ingestion address and stream name (stream key) shown by YouTube for the selected stream. Enter those details in your encoder exactly as displayed. Treat the stream key as a secret: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.

YouTube’s liveStream resource reference lists RTMP (including RTMPS), HLS, and DASH ingestion options, with primary and optional backup ingestion addresses. Use the protocol and addresses YouTube provides for your stream and the encoder you are using.
Configure and test the encoder
Use YouTube’s current settings guidance
For RTMP/RTMPS encoder settings, YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval; its settings table says not to exceed four seconds. It also recommends constant bitrate encoding. Select resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate using YouTube’s current live encoder settings, and make sure the available upload connection can sustain the chosen settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS for RTMP-based streaming.
Settings tables and supported codecs can change. Check the official guidance for your intended resolution and frame rate when configuring the encoder rather than relying on a bitrate copied from an older guide. A stable connection with enough upload capacity matters throughout the broadcast, not just at startup.

Start the broadcast when ready, then leave the encoder sending the program. Keep the computer powered, prevent sleep or automatic shutdown, and maintain its network connection. For a self-hosted setup, the stream depends on that computer, its power, encoder process, and internet connection remaining available.
-
Monitor the stream and the audio/video during operation. Have someone able to respond if the encoder stops, power or internet fails, YouTube reports a health problem, or a rights warning appears. YouTube reports stream health, but its documentation does not promise that an individual stream will never fail or provide a complete redundancy plan.

Keep a separate short event without ending the continuous feed
YouTube’s Live Streaming API guide documents a 24/7 pattern in which a continuous broadcast and a separate, shorter broadcast share the same incoming stream. The shorter broadcast can be completed without stopping the continuous feed. This is useful when you want a distinct viewer-facing event during an ongoing channel stream; it does not prevent encoder, network, or rights-related interruptions.
The API guide explains the resource relationship, while YouTube’s Live Control Room provides the creator-facing controls. If you need this arrangement and cannot find the relevant controls in Studio, consult the current API documentation or your streaming workflow before changing the live broadcast.
Common problems and what to check
-
You cannot start a live stream: verify channel access, verification, the 90-day restriction condition, and the minimum age guidance on YouTube’s eligibility page.

YouTube reports poor stream health: compare the encoder’s resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codec, keyframe interval, and bitrate mode with YouTube’s current settings guidance. Test again on the connection that will carry the broadcast.
-
The feed stops unexpectedly: inspect the encoder process, computer power and sleep settings, internet connection, and YouTube Studio status. Restart or reconnect the encoder as appropriate, then confirm that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.

YouTube warns about third-party content: respond to the warning and review the rights for the exact recording, performance, visuals, and music in the program. A license may not be enough if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel for Content ID.
