To play several prerecorded videos in one continuous YouTube live stream, create the YouTube live event in YouTube Studio and send it a single feed from an encoder that can play your videos in sequence. YouTube provides the event, preview, stream URL and key; the sequence must be assembled in the encoder or another production workflow. A regular channel playlist does not automatically become a live stream.
How the workflow fits together
Think of the broadcast as two connected parts: YouTube Live is the destination, and the encoder produces the video and audio feed sent there. The encoder must play or switch between the files as needed and deliver them as one continuous stream. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers setting up and connecting that feed, but does not specify playlist controls for every encoder.
This means the key choice is an encoder or production setup that can play your files in the desired order, loop or transition them as needed, and send a protocol supported by both the encoder and YouTube. Check that encoder’s current documentation for exact playlist controls; they vary by product.
Before you start
Check channel eligibility
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. It also states that streamers must be at least 16. Check the eligibility prompts in your account before preparing the broadcast: YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Prepare the files and sequence
- Put the videos in the intended order and confirm that the encoder can play them without an operator having to switch manually if uninterrupted playback is important.
- Decide whether the sequence should stop after one pass or repeat. Confirm how the encoder handles the end of the last file and the transition back to the first.
- Check the audio and picture at transitions, not just within individual files. Different levels, aspect ratios or frame rates may produce noticeable changes in the outgoing feed.
- Confirm that you have the rights to stream each video and its audio. Using prerecorded material does not remove copyright obligations; review YouTube’s current copyright guidance.
Choose a supported connection method
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted version of RTMP, for live-stream ingestion. Use a protocol supported by both your encoder and the event setup. YouTube also documents HLS ingestion, but it has higher latency than RTMP and requires specific segment settings; it is relevant when your encoder or production requirements call for HLS. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and protocols and its HLS ingestion guidance.
Set up the continuous stream
- Configure the sequence in your encoder. Add the prerecorded videos in the order you want them played. Set the desired loop or transition behavior using that encoder’s documented controls. Do not assume YouTube Studio will queue or loop the files for you.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live. Use the Stream tab for a new stream, or open Manage > Schedule Stream to schedule one. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes the event and connection workflow.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it unnecessarily or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube’s controls.
- Start the encoder feed and inspect the preview. Confirm that Live Control Room receives the video and audio. Check that the correct file is playing and that transitions behave as intended. YouTube recommends testing the feed and monitoring stream health; its live-streaming tips cover these checks.
- Start the event deliberately. For a scheduled stream, wait until the preview appears and start the event from Live Control Room according to YouTube’s workflow. Confirm that the public event is live and the outgoing sequence continues.
- End the broadcast cleanly. When the sequence is finished, end the event in Live Control Room and stop sending from the encoder as directed by YouTube’s workflow. If the stream is intended to run continuously, verify that looping is enabled before leaving the setup unattended.
Settings and operating checks that matter
Protocol and latency
RTMPS is YouTube’s recommended ingestion protocol. HLS is another option, but YouTube notes its higher latency and specific segment requirements. Avoid selecting a protocol solely because it appears in an encoder menu; confirm that the YouTube event and the encoder are configured for the same supported method.

Preview, audio and stream health
A preview is the practical checkpoint between configuring the encoder and starting the public event. Verify picture, sound, playback order and at least one file transition. During the broadcast, keep an eye on Live Control Room’s stream-health information so you can respond if the incoming feed degrades or stops.
Archives
YouTube’s encoder instructions state that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you need a recording, check the current event settings and YouTube’s limits rather than assuming that a longer continuous broadcast will be archived in the same way. The threshold is documented in YouTube’s encoder guide.

Troubleshooting
- No preview appears: Check that the encoder is running, that the stream URL and key were copied into the correct fields, and that the protocol matches the event configuration. Recheck the key in Live Control Room if you may have copied an outdated one.
- The preview appears, but the event is not public: A received encoder feed and a live public event are separate steps. For a scheduled broadcast, use the Live Control Room controls to start the event after the preview is ready.
- Only one video plays: YouTube receives the encoder’s feed; it does not turn a channel playlist into a sequence inside the live event. Check the encoder’s playlist or media-source configuration and verify that it is set to advance through the files.
- Playback stops at the end of a file or sequence: Check whether the encoder is configured to advance automatically and whether the overall sequence is set to loop. The exact controls depend on the encoder.
- Video or audio changes abruptly between files: Inspect the source files and encoder transition settings. Normalize audio levels and check how the encoder handles differing formats before going live.
- The stream drops during the broadcast: Review Live Control Room’s stream health and the encoder’s connection status. Restore the feed and follow the event controls shown in YouTube Studio; recovery behavior depends on the encoder and the live-event state.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want prerecorded videos to continue streaming to YouTube without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs the uploaded sequence from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera, and it streams to YouTube.
