Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor a prerecorded YouTube channel that needs to loop continuously, Castr is the more directly documented fit: its help page describes continuous playlist looping on Premium and higher. Restream supports scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, but its published loop feature is limited to 10 repetitions and a 40-hour stream. Neither provider’s feature claims guarantee uninterrupted service, and this comparison is based on published documentation rather than hands-on testing.
First, distinguish prerecorded playout from a live feed
“24/7 streaming” can mean either of two different setups. With prerecorded playout, a hosted service plays uploaded videos or a playlist as a live broadcast. With a live feed, a camera or encoder sends a source continuously. The best choice depends on which one you need.
- Prerecorded channel: Compare playlist looping, video scheduling, storage, and plan limits. Castr documents infinite looping on Premium and higher; Restream documents finite looping for prerecorded video.
- Live camera or encoder: Compare connection recovery and operational limits. Castr says its camera streams have no time limit, subject to plan bandwidth. Restream says it has no general stream-duration limit, but warns that server maintenance may occur after 24 hours and recommends restarting the stream every 24 hours.
Those are provider statements about their services, not evidence that a stream will never disconnect.
Castr vs Restream: the differences that matter
| Decision | Castr | Restream |
|---|---|---|
| Prerecorded programming | Can upload or schedule video and loop playlists. Castr says continuous 24/7 looping is available on Premium and higher. Castr’s prerecorded-video page | Can schedule prerecorded events. Its documented loop feature repeats a video up to 10 times, with a maximum 40-hour stream. Restream’s loop instructions |
| YouTube delivery | The prerecorded-live page lists YouTube as a supported destination. | Official instructions cover connecting YouTube and scheduling prerecorded events. Restream’s YouTube guide |
| Continuous live-source operation | Castr says IP-camera streams have no time limit; monthly bandwidth allowances still apply. Castr’s IP-camera page | Restream says it sets no overall duration limit, but may perform server maintenance after 24 hours and recommends restarting the stream every 24 hours. Restream’s duration guidance |
| YouTube archive | Verify archive behavior with YouTube for the planned broadcast; the reviewed Castr documentation does not establish a specific archive-duration rule. | Restream says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. Confirm current YouTube behavior and your channel’s needs before relying on a long stream as a VOD. |
| Plan sizing | Published plans vary in bandwidth and destination allowances. The pricing page lists plans beginning at $19.99 monthly or $16.67 per month when billed annually; these listed prices are volatile and should be checked before purchase. Castr pricing | Pricing is organized around active channels and feature access; prerecorded-video storage and looping depend on plan. Check current entitlements before purchase. | Broader production features | Bundles a hosted player, multistreaming, video hosting, and playout, with advanced features by tier. Castr feature list | Focuses on multistreaming, Studio, and Upload & Stream, with channel counts and prerecorded features determined by plan. |
Which service fits your use case?
Choose Castr for a continuous prerecorded playlist
If the core requirement is an always-on prerecorded YouTube channel, Castr’s published documentation is the clearer match: it explicitly describes continuous playlist looping on Premium and higher. Confirm that the needed tier’s bandwidth and destination allowances fit your catalog, audience, and any other platforms you plan to use.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Consider Restream for scheduled or finite prerecorded events
Restream is documented for scheduling prerecorded broadcasts and repeating a video up to 10 times, within a 40-hour stream. That can suit a scheduled event or repeated short-duration broadcast; it is not the same as an indefinitely looping 24/7 playlist.
For a camera or encoder feed, plan for reconnection
If you are sending a live source rather than uploaded programming, assess whether the camera or encoder can remain connected and recover after an interruption. Restream recommends restarting every 24 hours because of possible server maintenance. Castr’s stated lack of a time limit for camera streams does not remove its plan bandwidth constraints or guarantee uninterrupted delivery.

Check these details before paying
- Estimate viewer bandwidth. Compare expected audience viewing with the bandwidth included in the Castr plan you are considering. Do not treat destination count and viewer bandwidth as the same allowance.
- Count destinations and channels. Castr publishes destination limits by plan; Restream’s plan structure depends on active channels and feature access. Match the plan to the number of simultaneous outputs you actually need.
- Confirm prerecorded features. Check the current plan’s loop behavior, scheduling, and storage limits. Castr’s continuous-loop feature is specified for Premium and higher; Restream’s documented loop is finite.
- Decide what archive you need. Restream says YouTube archives streams only when they are under 12 hours. If a persistent VOD matters, design around that stated limit and verify current YouTube behavior rather than assuming a continuous broadcast will produce the archive you want.
- Recheck terms at checkout. Prices, bandwidth, destinations, and feature entitlements can change. Castr’s listed prices above are provider-published figures accessed in 2026, not a guarantee of today’s checkout price.
