There is no proven universal winner for ease. For a cloud-managed workflow that accepts a feed, transcodes it and publishes live output, Google Cloud Live Stream API is the clearest documented starting point in India because Mumbai (asia-south1) is listed as an available location. For one already-encoded, fixed feed, a cloud virtual machine (VM) running an encoder may involve fewer services—but you must manage monitoring, restarts and recovery yourself.
The practical choice depends on whether you need transcoding, which platform you already know, service availability and placement, recurring costs, and how you will handle interruptions. The available documentation does not compare setup time or total India-specific bills across Google Cloud, AWS and Azure.
What “easiest” means for a 24/7 stream
YouTube is the destination; the cloud platform supplies the encoder or managed streaming workflow that sends a live feed to YouTube. A prerecorded loop, a camera feed and a live production are different workloads, so they do not necessarily call for the same architecture.
- Prerecorded, already-encoded video: a continuously running encoder or relay on a VM may be enough if you do not need managed transcoding or several output renditions.
- Live source, graphics or multiple renditions: a managed workflow that ingests and transcodes the feed may be useful, though it adds configuration and components.
- Operational ease: consider what you already know and who will monitor the stream, protect credentials and recover it after an interruption. No cited comparison measures provider interface ease.
For a small, fixed stream, a full broadcast architecture can be more than you need. A single VM can be simpler to assemble, but it is not a hands-off service: the operator remains responsible for its process, updates, network troubleshooting and reconnect behavior.

How the main cloud options compare
| Approach | What it provides | India-specific evidence and strengths | Trade-offs to plan for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud Live Stream API | Accepts an input, transcodes it to configured renditions, publishes output streams and stores manifests and segments in Cloud Storage. | Mumbai (asia-south1) is listed, and the workflow and usage-based charging are documented. | More configuration than a bare encoder; channel location is fixed at creation. Check quotas, active-time charges and documented restart behavior. |
| Cloud VM running an encoder | Runs an encoder or relay continuously and sends RTMPS output to YouTube. | Can suit one fixed stream when the operator knows the platform and does not need managed multi-rendition transcoding. | The available material does not establish provider-specific VM sizing, Indian prices or a complete setup recipe. You own supervision, updates, network troubleshooting and restart/reconnect behavior. |
| AWS Live Streaming on AWS reference solution | Uses AWS Elemental MediaLive, MediaPackage, MediaConnect and CloudFront components as applicable. | AWS documents regional dependencies and provides a cost-model example. | This multi-service design may be more than a small channel needs. Its published example is for US East, not an India 24/7 estimate. |
| Azure | Could host compute and networking for an encoder-based design. | Azure documents bandwidth-transfer billing zones and distinguishes them from physical Availability Zones. | The available material does not establish an end-to-end managed YouTube live-encoding workflow or an India-specific total-cost comparison. |
Google Cloud is the most clearly documented starting point here for a managed workflow in India—not a proven easiest platform overall. If you already know a cloud VM environment and only need to relay one fixed feed, compare that simpler design before adopting a multi-service pipeline.
Configure the YouTube ingest correctly
YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Choose resolution, frame rate and bitrate to match the stream and YouTube’s current encoder guidance; YouTube transcodes the incoming live stream for viewers. Check the official YouTube encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions before launch, since the appropriate values depend on the output format.

Use the stream key from YouTube’s live-stream setup as the destination credential in your encoder or managed workflow. Treat it like a password: restrict access, do not place it in public scripts or logs, and replace it if exposed. Confirm that the selected encoder is sending to the intended YouTube event before relying on unattended operation.
A NIC webcast service page from the Government of India specifies dedicated network bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream for its service and asks for an audio-video setup and encoder. That figure is NIC-specific guidance, not a general YouTube bitrate recommendation or a cloud-VM sizing rule.

Plan a Google Cloud Live Stream API deployment
- Choose the workflow first. Decide whether the incoming source needs transcoding or multiple renditions. For a single fixed, already-encoded feed, compare the managed API with a VM encoder rather than assuming the managed workflow is simpler.
- Select the region deliberately. Mumbai (asia-south1) is listed for the Live Stream API. The channel’s location is selected at creation, so confirm the needed service and quota availability before building around it.
- Place related resources thoughtfully. Google Cloud advises creating the input endpoint and channel as close as possible to where the live stream files are stored in Cloud Storage. See Google Cloud Live Stream API locations.
- Configure input, channel and outputs. Set up the source input and the channel’s output renditions and destination according to the Google Cloud Live Stream API documentation. Secure the YouTube stream key and verify the output with a test event before leaving it unattended.
- Check quotas, billing and lifecycle behavior. Google Cloud documents a ten-minute minimum charge, then rounds active duration up to the nearest minute. The pricing page does not establish an India-wide 24/7 total for every configuration; check current rates for your region and workload.
- Design recovery, then test it. Google Cloud documents that a channel in an active streaming state may be restarted after 24 hours. This is a service behavior, not an uptime guarantee. Verify current behavior and test how your workflow resumes output and reconnects to YouTube.
Estimate the recurring cost instead of guessing
A 24/7 bill depends on the architecture, region, stream bitrate, storage and—if applicable—audience distribution. For a managed channel, account for active-time charges and any other resources it uses. For a VM, include continuous compute, storage and network transfer. A design that serves viewers through a distribution service may add audience delivery costs.
Compare like with like: use the same resolution, bitrate, operating hours, region and delivery assumptions for each candidate. Calculate from current provider pricing rather than reusing AWS’s US East example as an Indian estimate. The available material does not establish a comparable India-specific monthly total for Google Cloud, AWS and Azure.

Keep the stream running when nobody is watching the controls
- Monitor both the source input and the outgoing YouTube stream; an encoder process running does not by itself prove viewers are receiving a healthy feed.
- Set alerts for lost input, failed output and process or channel interruptions.
- Decide who or what restarts a failed encoder or managed workflow, and test reconnect behavior before the stream is unattended.
- Protect and limit access to the YouTube stream key and cloud credentials.
- Review YouTube’s copyright rules and the rights for every video, soundtrack and other material in a loop. A technically continuous stream is not permission to rebroadcast content.
Do not assume that one VM or one managed channel guarantees zero downtime. Recovery must be part of the design, not an expectation based only on the word “cloud.”
Or let it run in the cloud
If your use case is a prerecorded YouTube loop rather than a camera feed, StreamNeo is another option to consider: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
