To schedule a prerecorded video as a YouTube live broadcast in Streamlabs Talk Studio, open Schedule, choose +Schedule, select YouTube as a destination, choose Pre-recorded video, upload the file, enter the event details, and select Schedule. YouTube may require channel verification and an initial live-stream setup first.
Before you schedule
Connect YouTube to Talk Studio and check that your channel is eligible to go live. Streamlabs’ YouTube guide says first-time streamers may need to verify the channel and complete YouTube’s initial live setup in YouTube Studio. The guide describes going to Create > Go live, completing the requested setup, and choosing the stream’s visibility. Talk Studio runs in a browser. Streamlabs’ getting-started guide recommends Chrome or Safari and a stable internet connection. It lists 5 Mbps as a minimum upload speed, with 10 Mbps recommended for 720p and 20 Mbps for 1080p. Schedule the prerecorded YouTube stream
- Open the schedule form: In Talk Studio, select the Schedule icon, then choose +Schedule.
- Choose where to stream: Select YouTube as the destination. If YouTube is not available, connect it in Talk Studio and complete any verification or initial setup requested by YouTube.
- Select the broadcast format: Choose Pre-recorded video. This is the option for making an uploaded video the scheduled broadcast itself.
- Upload the video: Choose the video file and let the upload complete before proceeding. Check the file-size and duration limits for your Talk Studio plan first.
- Enter the event details: Add the stream title, description, date and time, and thumbnail.
- Schedule it: Review the destination and event details, then select Schedule. Streamlabs says YouTube creates an event link for the scheduled broadcast; check the event in YouTube and share its link with viewers if appropriate.
This workflow schedules an uploaded video rather than recording a live session. Streamlabs support author Kevin described the feature this way: “With Talk Studio’s new ability to play pre-recorded videos for your live streams, it’s no longer necessary to broadcast in real-time.” The article was published April 25, 2025. Check Talk Studio’s stated file and scheduling limits
Streamlabs’ scheduling guide lists the limits below. They are plan details and can change, so confirm them against current Talk Studio plan information before preparing a long video or scheduling far ahead.

Do not confuse prerecorded broadcasts with other Talk Studio features
- Recording a Talk Studio session: Talk Studio’s recording feature captures a session or stream, with cloud recordings and local tracks per participant. It is for creating a recording, not for uploading an existing video as the scheduled broadcast. Streamlabs prerecorded-video guide
- Adding an intro or outro clip: Uploaded clips can play at the beginning or end of a stream. That is different from selecting Pre-recorded video as the broadcast format. Streamlabs prerecorded-video guide
Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
- YouTube is missing from the destination list: Connect YouTube to Talk Studio. If the connection is blocked by channel setup, open YouTube Studio and complete verification or the initial Go Live steps YouTube requests.
- The video will not upload: Check whether it exceeds the 5 GB maximum listed in Streamlabs’ guide, and confirm your file meets the limits currently shown for your plan. Allow time for the upload to finish before scheduling.
- The video exceeds the allowed duration: The guide lists one hour for Standard and two hours for Pro/Ultra. Confirm current plan limits; otherwise shorten the video or use a plan that supports its duration.
- You cannot select a date far ahead: The guide lists a 50-day scheduling limit. Choose a date within the window shown in your current scheduling form.
- The event is scheduled but viewers cannot find it: Check the event in YouTube and confirm its visibility and details. Streamlabs says YouTube creates an event link; use the link associated with the scheduled event.
- Playback or setup is unreliable in the browser: Try Chrome or Safari and check that your internet connection is stable. Streamlabs recommends at least 5 Mbps upload, with 10 Mbps for 720p and 20 Mbps for 1080p.
