For a prerecorded YouTube livestream that should keep running without a dedicated computer, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud, supports up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Among the other options documented by YouTube, Gyre is the clearest direct match for scheduled or continuous prerecorded streaming. Restream is better suited to distributing a stream to several destinations; AWS Elemental MediaLive is a more technical, broadcast-grade service; and AJA HELO Plus is standalone hardware rather than a cloud platform.
Which platform fits a prerecorded YouTube livestream?
These choices solve different problems. A service that can relay a live feed to multiple destinations is not necessarily a service that schedules and hosts prerecorded video. Before choosing, decide whether your priority is continuous playback, multiple destinations, advanced processing, or avoiding a computer with dedicated hardware.
| Option | Best fit | What the available documentation establishes | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Keeping uploaded video live on YouTube from the cloud | Loops uploaded videos and playlists; automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream; up to 4K 60fps as uploaded at one flat price per slot. | Cloud hosting for prerecorded YouTube streams |
| Gyre | Scheduled or continuous prerecorded YouTube streaming | YouTube’s verified encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, scheduled broadcasts, and video conversion. | Cloud prerecorded-stream service |
| Restream | Sending a stream to several destinations | YouTube describes cloud service encoders as a way to send one high-quality stream to a service that distributes it to selected channels or platforms. Confirm the exact prerecorded scheduling workflow with the vendor. | Cloud relay and multistream distribution |
| AWS Elemental MediaLive | Teams with advanced or custom video-processing needs | YouTube describes it as broadcast-grade live video processing; the cited documentation does not establish it as a ready-made prerecorded scheduling product. | Broadcast-grade processing service |
| AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream | Scheduling prerecorded media without leaving a computer running | YouTube says PlayToStream can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. It is a hardware workflow, not cloud hosting. | Standalone hardware encoder |
YouTube’s encoder directory is the basis for the descriptions of Gyre, Restream, AWS Elemental MediaLive, and AJA HELO Plus. See YouTube’s encoder setup and verified encoder directory and its guidance on streaming across platforms.

2. Gyre: YouTube’s documented cloud option for prerecorded streams
YouTube’s verified encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud-based tool for continuous prerecorded YouTube streaming, including scheduled broadcasts and video conversion. That makes it the most direct documented alternative here for creators specifically seeking a hosted prerecorded-stream workflow. YouTube’s directory establishes those capabilities, but does not establish current commercial terms, storage limits, supported formats, or geographic availability. Check Gyre’s current product information for those details before choosing.
3. Restream: when you need distribution to multiple destinations
Restream belongs on the shortlist when the goal is to distribute a stream to multiple channels or platforms. YouTube describes cloud relay services as receiving one high-quality feed and distributing it to selected destinations. That role is different from hosting and scheduling uploaded prerecorded videos: confirm that Restream’s current offering supports the exact prerecorded playback and scheduling workflow you need.

4. AWS Elemental MediaLive: for advanced video-processing workflows
YouTube describes AWS Elemental MediaLive as broadcast-grade live video processing. The cited YouTube material does not establish it as a ready-made service for scheduling prerecorded videos into a continuous YouTube livestream. Consider it when a team needs advanced or custom processing and has the expertise to configure a broadcast workflow, not as a plug-and-play scheduler based on the evidence available here.
5. AJA HELO Plus: a hardware alternative to cloud hosting
YouTube says AJA HELO Plus supports PlayToStream, which can schedule prerecorded media directly to YouTube Live without a computer. This may suit someone who wants a dedicated appliance instead of a cloud host. It is a hardware option, not a cloud platform; verify current availability and the exact product package and feature support before buying.

How to set up a prerecorded stream on YouTube
A hosting service or encoder does not replace the YouTube event. Create or schedule the live event in YouTube Studio, then configure the service or encoder to send to it using YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s setup instructions cover the event and encoder workflow at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Check channel eligibility. Your channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, according to YouTube’s live streaming tips. First-time livestream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until just before the planned broadcast.
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, create a livestream or schedule one for later. A scheduled event can be promoted in advance; YouTube documents notifications for viewers who opt in. Review the event’s stream settings in Manage live stream settings.
- Copy the stream URL and key into your service or encoder. Use the event’s stream details. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send video to the event.
- Choose an ingestion protocol and settings supported by both sides. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. YouTube also documents HLS ingestion for cases such as HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions, and confirm that your chosen service supports the protocol and settings you need.
- Prepare and preview before the event. Test the scheduled event and check the incoming preview before relying on it for a broadcast. YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend preparing the stream and checking it before going live.
- Monitor the event. Confirm that the expected feed is reaching YouTube and that the scheduled event is live. A hosted service can keep a source running, but you still need to check the YouTube event and its stream status.
How to choose between the options
- For a single YouTube channel and unattended prerecorded playback: start with StreamNeo or Gyre, the options documented here for cloud-based continuous prerecorded streaming. Compare their current storage, formats, scheduling, and commercial terms directly.
- For distribution to multiple destinations: consider Restream, but verify that it supports prerecorded scheduling if that is essential.
- For custom, broadcast-grade processing: assess AWS Elemental MediaLive as a technical service rather than assuming it includes a ready-made prerecorded scheduler.
- To avoid an active computer but keep the playback device on-site: investigate AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream and confirm its current product details.
- Before paying for any option: verify stream duration, storage, supported formats, geographic availability, and whether the product actually schedules prerecorded video. YouTube’s directory identifies capabilities, but does not establish vendors’ current prices or service limits.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload a video or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
