Short answer: Dacast’s documented Simulcast feature can send an existing encoder-based Dacast live channel to YouTube. It does not create that source stream. The available documentation does not establish that a prerecorded video or VOD Rebroadcast can be simulcast as an uninterrupted 24/7 YouTube feed, so confirm the exact channel type, plan and destination behavior with Dacast before relying on it for that job.
What Dacast’s Simulcast does
Dacast describes Simulcast as a way to distribute a single incoming stream to destinations such as YouTube through Dacast’s infrastructure. In its documented workflow, you start with an existing live encoder channel and add YouTube as a destination. Simulcast is therefore a distribution step, not a tool that generates a live source from an uploaded video. Dacast’s Simulcast guide explains the destination setup.
That distinction matters for a continuous stream. A live feed supplied by an encoder and a prerecorded-video loop or VOD Rebroadcast are different workflows. Dacast’s documentation treats VOD Rebroadcast separately and says Simulcast applies to encoder channels, not VOD Rebroadcast. The cited documentation does not confirm a way to use that feature to loop prerecorded content to YouTube continuously.
Can Dacast run a 24/7 YouTube livestream?
Dacast’s documented feature supports sending an encoder-originated live channel to YouTube, but that alone is not evidence that every Dacast plan or configuration will keep a stream running without interruption. Nor does it establish that a prerecorded loop can be used as the source. Ask Dacast to confirm in writing which channel type and plan support your intended 24/7 workflow, what happens if the source or connection drops, and whether YouTube delivery continues through a reconnect.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Dacast’s product material describes simulcasting through its infrastructure, but vendor claims are not independent uptime findings. The reviewed sources do not provide an independently verified uptime figure or evidence of uninterrupted performance for a particular customer configuration. Current detailed pricing, bandwidth or usage limits, plan entitlements, and support terms also need to be checked directly with Dacast.
How to add YouTube as a Dacast destination
- Make sure your YouTube channel can go live. YouTube requires a verified channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create or select an encoder-based live channel in Dacast. Simulcast attaches destinations to an existing live channel; it does not create the encoder feed. If your source is a prerecorded video or VOD Rebroadcast, do not assume this workflow applies.
- Open that channel’s engagement settings and add YouTube. Follow the destination steps in Dacast’s Simulcast guide. You will need to enter the YouTube stream key in Dacast.
- Check the Dacast ingest details after adding the destination. Dacast warns that creating destinations changes the Dacast ingest URL. Update the encoder to use the new address; continuing to send to the old URL can prevent the source from reaching the configured channel.
- Configure and test the YouTube stream. YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for encoder-based streaming. Preview the feed and check stream health before treating it as live. Destination playback is also subject to YouTube’s platform behavior and limits. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and streaming tips.
Settings and operating checks for a long-running feed
Encoder and stream credentials
Use the server URL and stream key YouTube supplies for the encoder workflow, and enter the YouTube key in Dacast’s destination settings. Keep credentials private: anyone with an active stream key may be able to send a feed to your broadcast. If you rotate or replace the key, update the corresponding destination configuration and test again.

Upload capacity and stream health
YouTube recommends upload capacity with 20% headroom above the stream’s bitrate. That margin helps accommodate network variation; it is not a guarantee against outages. Test the actual source, preview the destination, and monitor stream health rather than assuming a successful initial connection will remain healthy. A network disruption can break a live stream. Plan who will notice an interruption and how the encoder or source will be restarted.
There is no single bitrate or resolution that can be prescribed for every feed from the cited material: the right settings depend on the encoder, content and available upload connection. Set the encoder to a configuration supported by YouTube and the Dacast channel, then verify the preview and health indicators before leaving it unattended.

Continuity plan
Before committing to a continuous broadcast, establish how your source behaves after a power loss, encoder restart or network interruption, and whether it reconnects automatically. Confirm the same recovery behavior for the Dacast-to-YouTube destination path with Dacast. Simulcast documentation establishes destination distribution, not a particular customer’s recovery time or uninterrupted uptime.
Archives, copyright and repeated content
Do not rely on a complete automatic archive of a 24/7 stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not establish that one continuous stream longer than 12 hours will receive a complete automatic archive. If you need a full recording of a long-running feed, arrange separate recording or archiving rather than relying on the automatic archive alone. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Secure rights for every repeated element
YouTube’s live-streaming terms place responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed to use the live content, including applicable music licensing rights, and to follow relevant laws and platform guidelines. This applies to footage, music and other third-party material in a feed, including material that repeats while the stream is unattended. Review YouTube’s terms and clear the necessary rights before broadcasting.

- Source workflow: Establish whether your source is an encoder-originated live channel or prerecorded content. Dacast documents Simulcast for encoder channels, not VOD Rebroadcast.
- Continuity: Ask Dacast to confirm that the specific channel type and plan support your intended duration and what happens after source interruptions or reconnects.
- Destination: YouTube’s channel eligibility, stream-key configuration, policies and archive behavior still apply when Dacast is in the delivery path.
- Network and monitoring: Provide YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom, test the workflow and decide how you will detect and respond to stream-health problems.
- Plan and cost: Verify the current Dacast price, bandwidth or usage limits, Simulcast availability and support terms with Dacast. The cited material does not establish current detailed pricing or plan entitlements for this use case.
A cloud option for prerecorded YouTube loops
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing on YouTube rather than distribute an encoder’s live feed, StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it runs the loop from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. Upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free day.
