Short answer: YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not expressly prohibit a 24/7 prerecorded live stream, but it does not grant blanket approval for every such setup either. An encoder-based stream is a documented way to go live; your content must still comply with YouTube’s rules and rights requirements, and monetization is a separate decision.
What YouTube’s guidance establishes—and what it does not
YouTube documents encoder-based live streaming: you connect an encoder to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key, then start sending the broadcast. The reviewed guidance does not contain a specific rule naming “24/7 prerecorded live streams.” It therefore supports neither a universal ban nor a guarantee that every continuous prerecorded stream is permitted in every circumstance. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
Before launching, check the live controls for your account and any account-specific restrictions. Treat technical ability to transmit as distinct from permission to use the material, compliance with platform policies, archive retention, and monetization eligibility.
Rules that still apply to a continuous stream
Community Guidelines and rights
YouTube’s livestream terms state: “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.” They also require the provider to represent that they hold the rights needed to use the live content on Google services, including relevant music licensing rights. Clear the rights for every element you stream—such as documentary footage, photographs, narration, sound recordings, and music—not just the underlying subject matter. Read the YouTube livestream terms and conditions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A license or other permission to stream material does not automatically make it eligible for monetization. Rights compliance and monetization review are separate questions.
Originality and monetization
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. The policy says monetized content should be original and authentic, identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content,” and also has a separate reused-content policy. Its policy update is dated July 15, 2025. A 24/7 schedule, loop, playlist, or replay is not by itself proof that a channel meets those standards; YouTube reviews the channel and its content. See YouTube channel monetization policies.

Do not assume that a stream being technically available, properly licensed, or continuously watched guarantees monetization. No approval or earnings outcome for a particular format follows from the encoder instructions.
Will YouTube archive a 24/7 stream?
Archiving is the important duration caveat. YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” It also warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” The 12-hour threshold concerns automatic archive capture; it is not stated as a maximum live-stream duration. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

If keeping the full broadcast matters, record a local archive as a backup. Do not rely on YouTube automatically preserving a stream that runs beyond the stated threshold.
How to set up an encoder-based prerecorded stream
YouTube’s documented workflow uses an encoder and the stream URL and key shown in YouTube’s live setup. The exact controls can vary with the encoder, so use its documentation for loading a video or playlist and configuring playback.

- Prepare the content. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every video and audio element, and decide how the encoder will play the recording or playlist continuously.
- Open YouTube Live setup. In YouTube Studio, open the live-stream creation workflow and select the encoder option. Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key shown for the broadcast.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the stream URL and key in the encoder, choose the prepared prerecorded source, and configure the encoder for your stream. YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a particular encoder, bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting for this 24/7 format.
- Start transmission and verify it. Start the encoder, then check YouTube’s Live Control Room to confirm that the feed is arriving and that the intended content is playing.
- Plan for operation and preservation. Monitor the encoder and connection, keep a local recording if the archive matters, and know how to stop transmission or use the available Live Control Room controls to end the stream. Monitoring and backup are prudent operational measures, not stated YouTube prerequisites.
YouTube describes both software encoding and hardware encoding as options. It recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events, but says expensive equipment is not needed to get started. The cited guidance does not require a hardware encoder for a prerecorded 24/7 stream. See YouTube live-streaming tips.

- The encoder is not reaching YouTube: Check that the stream URL and stream key were copied correctly and entered in the encoder’s streaming settings. Confirm that the encoder is transmitting, then check the Live Control Room for incoming video.
- The stream is live but the video is not behaving as intended: Check the encoder’s source and playlist or loop controls; YouTube’s encoder guide covers connecting the broadcast, not the playback controls of every encoder.
- The broadcast is not available as a full archive: Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Make a local recording when preserving the complete broadcast is important.
- A copyright or policy concern arises: Recheck rights for the specific footage, music, and other material, and review Community Guidelines. Technical success does not resolve rights or policy questions.
- The channel is not approved for monetization or a stream is not monetized: Review the originality, inauthentic-content, and reused-content policies across the channel. Permission to stream does not establish monetization eligibility.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping on YouTube without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for that workflow: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It does not stream from a camera or to other platforms.
