Create or schedule the stream in YouTube Studio, configure your encoder to play the files in the order and loop behavior you want, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key, then check the incoming preview before going live. The playlist controls live in your chosen encoder, not in YouTube Studio.
Check channel eligibility and prepare your playlist
Before setting up the encoder, confirm that your channel is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube’s getting-started guidance also sets a minimum age of 16 to live stream. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Prepare the video files and decide what should happen when the last item finishes: stop the broadcast, repeat the playlist, or move into another set. Those behaviors depend on the encoder application. Check its current documentation and test that it advances through the files, handles the end of the list as intended, keeps audio and video in sync, and can recover from interruptions.
Make sure you have permission to use every video and music track in the broadcast. A playlist format does not change copyright obligations, and the encoder setup cannot determine whether you have the necessary rights.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create or schedule the YouTube live stream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Choose Stream to create a stream now. To create a scheduled watch page, go to Manage → Schedule stream. Scheduling lets you share the page in advance and gives viewers the option to set reminders.
- In Live Control Room, locate the server URL and stream key for the stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow is to enter these in your encoder so it can send the feed to YouTube. Keep the key private: anyone with it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
YouTube recommends RTMPS for general encoder streaming. Use the standard encoder setup unless you have a specific technical reason to use another ingestion protocol. The official workflow is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Configure the encoder to play the video playlist
- In your encoder, select YouTube as the destination if the application offers that option. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings.
- Add the video files to the encoder’s playlist or playback queue, then set the order and the desired end-of-playlist behavior. The exact controls vary by application; YouTube Studio does not configure the file playlist.
- Choose a resolution, frame rate, video bitrate, and audio settings that your encoder and upload connection can sustain. YouTube advises testing the selected quality and connection rather than choosing settings blindly. Its encoder settings and bitrates guidance covers supported streaming settings.
- Start the encoder so it sends the feed to YouTube. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview, then inspect both picture and sound. For a scheduled broadcast, select Go live in Live Control Room when you are ready.
For the usual video playlist, use RTMPS unless a technical requirement calls for HLS. YouTube supports HLS for use cases such as HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support, but HLS has higher latency because it sends video in segments. HLS also has specific ingestion requirements: segment duration of 1–4 seconds, TS segment format, HTTPS POST/PUT, and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. These refer to the protocol’s video segments, not your playlist of videos. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion instructions.

Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
Run a test using audio and movement similar to what you will broadcast. Confirm the first file starts correctly, the sound is audible, and the picture stays in sync. YouTube advises checking the preview before starting and monitoring audio and video quality during the stream. For scheduled events, its tips recommend preparing the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. See YouTube live-streaming tips.
Once live, keep an eye on the stream health indicators and on the actual playback. If the playlist is intended to run unattended, verify in a test that the encoder advances correctly and behaves as expected after a network or software interruption. YouTube’s connection workflow does not guarantee that a particular encoder will recover or resume its playlist automatically.

End the stream and check the archive limit
End the broadcast through the encoder and Live Control Room workflow. YouTube automatically archives streams shorter than 12 hours; do not rely on an automatic archive for a continuous broadcast that reaches or exceeds that duration. You can find the stream and archive details in YouTube’s encoder guide.
Troubleshooting common problems
- No preview appears: Confirm the encoder is sending to the server URL for this stream and that the correct stream key is entered. Check the encoder’s connection status and the internet connection, then wait for Live Control Room to receive the feed.
- The wrong video plays or the playlist stops: Review the encoder’s queue, file order, and end-of-list behavior. These controls are application-specific, so consult the encoder’s current instructions.
- Audio is missing or out of sync: Test the file in the encoder before going live. Check its audio source and playback settings, then make another test with the same files and settings you plan to use on air.
- The picture stutters or the connection is unstable: Test at a lower quality or bitrate that the available upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends testing the setup and choosing a quality suited to the connection; see its encoder settings guidance.
- The stream key may have been exposed: Reset it in Live Control Room, then update the encoder with the replacement key. Treat the key as a credential, not as public channel information.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube playlist to keep running without leaving a computer or home connection on, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams the uploaded files to YouTube only; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
