First enable live streaming on an eligible channel, then create a stream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with your server URL and stream key, and test the feed before relying on it. You can run the encoder on a computer you keep online or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo, which plays uploaded videos to YouTube without requiring your computer to stay on.
YouTube’s documented workflow is the same for India as elsewhere; the official guidance reviewed does not describe a separate India-specific technical setup. Rights, service availability, and local licensing questions need to be checked for your particular content and circumstances.
Choose how you will keep the stream running
YouTube receives a live video feed from an encoder; it does not turn a regular video upload into a continuous live broadcast by itself. Choose where that encoder will run before creating your stream.

YouTube’s verified encoder list includes Gyre as a cloud-based service for 24/7 streams of prerecorded videos. The official listing does not establish Gyre’s current availability or price in India. Check the service’s current documentation before choosing it. YouTube also notes that expensive equipment is not necessary to begin.

Prepare the channel and content
Enable live streaming in advance
- Verify your YouTube channel if it is not already verified.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Enable live streaming before your planned launch. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
Confirm the feature is available in YouTube Studio before announcing a start time.
Clear the rights to every video and audio track
Use only recordings and music for which you have the necessary rights to broadcast in the territories where your stream can be viewed. Being able to watch or download a video, having uploaded it before, or holding a third-party licence does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it live.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A licensed work may still be interrupted if the rights owner has not added your channel to the Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to hold necessary rights, including music licensing rights, and to comply with laws and regulations that apply to the stream territory. The sources cited here do not determine the specific Indian legal or music-licensing requirements for your content.

Create the YouTube Live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one. Scheduling creates a watch page that you can share before the broadcast begins.
- Set the stream details and audience options appropriate to the content, then save. In the stream settings, locate the YouTube server URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, enter the server URL and stream key exactly as shown in YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: it is the credential that directs your encoder’s feed to your stream. Do not share it publicly.
- Load the video or playlist in your encoder and configure it to repeat. Looping controls differ by encoder, so follow the current instructions for your chosen software or device; YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify a universal playlist-loop setting.
- Start the encoder to send the feed. Check the preview in Live Control Room before starting the public stream, then monitor the broadcast’s audio and video.
Keep the YouTube Studio stream settings open while configuring the encoder so you can verify the correct stream key and server URL. If you need to change or reset a key, do so in Studio and update the encoder with the replacement.
Set quality and test the feed before launch
The exact resolution, bitrate, frame rate, keyframe interval, and format depend on the encoder and the quality of the source files. Use the current recommendations for your encoder and the stream settings shown in YouTube Studio rather than applying a universal value to every setup. Make sure the selected encoder can decode and send your files at the intended quality.

- Run a test ahead of the planned start, rather than making the first connection during a public event.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and listen for clear, correctly synchronized audio.
- Confirm that the watch page is accessible as intended, especially if you scheduled the stream.
- Allow upload headroom. YouTube recommends 20% bandwidth headroom; a network interruption can disrupt the feed.
- Keep monitoring stream audio and video during operation. A green preview at launch does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 run.

A continuous stream depends on the encoder, its power and network connection, and the path to YouTube. With a local encoder, a computer shutdown, software failure, or loss of connectivity can stop the feed. Decide who will monitor the stream and how it will be restarted if the encoder or connection fails. Check the recovery behavior of any cloud service or hardware you choose rather than assuming automatic recovery.

To end a stream, stop sending content from the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise that a stream lasting 24 hours or longer will be saved as one complete replay, so do not rely on a single continuous broadcast as your only archive. Keep your original recordings and check YouTube Studio’s current behavior if you need a replay.
Understand monetization and replay limits
Live-stream ads depend on channel eligibility and monetization settings. YouTube says eligible channels can enable live-stream ads, including pre-roll and display ads, and may run mid-rolls, but ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Watch-page ads and YouTube Premium revenue require acceptance of the relevant Watch Page Monetization Module. A live audience or continuous broadcast does not guarantee earnings.
Likewise, plan replay needs around the documented under-12-hour archive statement rather than assuming a 24/7 stream will produce one complete archive. If a complete recording matters, retain the source files and verify the available recording and archive options in your current setup.
