While a YouTube livestream is underway, look in live chat for the bright green “New Member” message. YouTube says the new member’s profile picture is pinned at the top of chat for five minutes. If you own the channel and missed the notice, check YouTube Studio > Earn > Memberships for membership information; for a past stream, chat replay may also preserve the announcement.
See new members while the stream is live
- Open the livestream and make sure live chat is visible.
- Watch for the bright green “New Member” message when someone joins the channel membership.
- Look at the top of chat: YouTube says the member’s profile picture is pinned there for five minutes.

If you own the channel and missed the announcement
Check membership information in Studio
Open YouTube Studio, select Earn, then Memberships. YouTube directs creators to this tab for membership information. If a person joins while you are offline, YouTube says it does not send you a notification, but you can view members in the Memberships tab. The documentation does not establish that this is a per-stream history of join events, so do not treat it as a confirmed list of who joined during one particular livestream. Check the stream’s chat replay
If the livestream archive has live chat replay enabled, open the archive and review chat alongside the video. YouTube says replay is on by default for stream archives, but creators can turn it off. It reflects chat as it appeared live; it is not a separate membership-event report. If replay is unavailable and you missed the announcement, the cited YouTube documentation does not describe a way to reconstruct exactly which people joined during that stream. What viewers can see—and what membership-only chat means
YouTube says some membership information may be publicly visible after someone joins, including their channel URL, channel name, profile picture, join date, and membership level. That does not mean the live announcement provides unrestricted access to a complete membership roster. Details and use of this information can depend on the channel. See YouTube’s membership-benefits information.
A creator can restrict who is allowed to post in live chat to channel members while leaving the livestream viewable to everyone. That setting controls chat participation; the documented join signal remains the green announcement. See YouTube’s guide to membership levels and perks.
