A May 1, 2024 report said all nine pre-Kingdom films were streaming on Hulu at that time. Today, Hulu’s collection page lists the 2001 film, the Caesar trilogy and Kingdom; it does not show the five original films from 1968–1973.
Which Planet of the Apes movies does Hulu list now?
Hulu’s official Planet of the Apes collection currently displays these five titles. This is a snapshot of the U.S. catalog checked August 16, 2026; streaming licenses can change, and a collection listing is not a guarantee that a title will remain available.
| Film | Year | Continuity | Hulu listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Planet of the Apes | 2001 | Tim Burton’s standalone remake | Hulu movie page |
| Rise of the Planet of the Apes | 2011 | Caesar continuity | Hulu movie page |
| Dawn of the Planet of the Apes | 2014 | Caesar continuity | Hulu movie page |
| War for the Planet of the Apes | 2017 | Caesar continuity | Hulu movie page |
| Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes | 2024 | Set generations after the Caesar trilogy | Hulu movie page |
The five original films are not shown on the current collection page reviewed. That does not establish whether they are available elsewhere, or whether they might appear through a different Hulu search or catalog listing.
Why do some pages still say “all nine”?
The count of nine refers to the films released before Kingdom: five entries in the original series, the separate 2001 remake and the three Caesar films. BGR’s May 1, 2024 article reported that lineup as streaming on Hulu at the time. It predates Kingdom’s arrival and should not be read as a current catalog check.

With Kingdom released in 2024, the franchise has 10 released live-action theatrical films. Hulu’s own franchise guide, revised August 5, 2024, illustrates the counting confusion: it says subscribers can watch “all nine films,” but its list includes 10 titles when Kingdom is counted. The guide is older editorial material; the current collection page is the clearer indication of what Hulu currently surfaces, and it shows five.
All 10 films in theatrical release order
This order follows the films’ original release dates. The Hulu column reflects the five titles shown in its U.S. collection on August 16, 2026—not a promise of availability beyond that date.

What order should a newcomer watch?
For the franchise’s full history: release order
Watch the five 1968–1973 films first, then the 2001 remake, followed by the Caesar trilogy and Kingdom. This makes the franchise’s changing eras easiest to follow. The 2001 movie is a separate remake, so consider it an optional standalone stop rather than a bridge between the other stories. Hulu’s guide also presents a release-order approach.
For the modern story: Caesar continuity
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
- Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)
- War for the Planet of the Apes (2017)
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
This is the most direct route for viewers who want the connected modern storyline leading into Kingdom. The 2001 remake is not part of that sequence. The original five films offer a separate historical branch of the franchise and can be watched afterward.

Check your Hulu catalog before subscribing
Hulu availability is region- and account-dependent, and its app, website and connected-TV search may not surface titles identically. A movie page appearing in a search result is not proof that it is included for every subscriber.
- Open Hulu’s collection page and compare its titles with the films you want to watch.
- Open the individual Hulu page for each must-see film while signed in from your account region; confirm that it offers streaming access, not merely a page or search result.
- Check the plan and advertising terms shown at signup. Hulu’s collection page displayed plans starting at $11.99 per month when observed near August 16, 2026; price and plan terms can change.
If a title does not appear in your account, do not assume the old “all nine” article guarantees access. Hulu’s guide may lag behind its catalog, while availability can shift as licensing changes.

- Generations in the future following Caesar?s reign, apes are living harmoniously as the dominant species ? and humans are living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
How much time should you set aside?
The five films Hulu currently surfaces make for a substantial weekend marathon. Watching all 10 theatrical films is better planned across several days. If your priority is the Caesar-to-Kingdom story, the 2001 remake is not needed to follow that sequence.
